Got the account banned, and did a wildcard ban on the IP (which, believe it or not, originated from China...). Thanks, Rick!

Frank, where does sportprof101 hail from? He registered here the same day he registered at about 30-50 other college football forums. From a quick google search it doesn't appear he's posted at any of them.

May not be a spammer, but he's doing the same thing some of our other spammers have done. Just curious.

 
Ashville, NC, based on the IP address. The email is interesting - rivalryresearch@gmail.com. Either one of two things, I think. First, someone who reads a LOT of message boards hoping to pull a nugget of info for Rivals. Second, he monitors boards to see whether Rivals' paid content is being quoted. Or both.

 
 
OK, call me paranoid, but my Spidey senses are tingling about this guy. asurine1 joined today and posted ESPN's top 25. No big deal, right? Well, he's joined about two dozen other forums today and posted one post - then went away.

It's all random, too - stuff about new coaches, stuff about football (soccer) in some forums, the ESPN thing in our forum, etc. In one he claims to be a "third year university student conducting a study about UEFA financial fair play and its impact upon the english football industry."

If this guy is legit then I'm a Cyclone fan.

I'm not sure, but I think he's from Asia. Nic.com doesn't know his IP address, and refers the query to APNIC, the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre.

It is possible that he's just a university student conducting some kind of study (although how what he is posting doesn't seem relevant).

Also possible he is just a spammer. APNIC is listed as in Australia by the nic.com lookup by the way, and it seems to just be similar to the nic.com lookup service we are using.

Ran a whois lookup of the same IP at that address: look up

113.162.86.15.

Based on that though, it seems to be coming from Vietnam.

I have strong suspicions about this person, who registered two names over the weekend (one is hung up in the validation process):

Both have this email address bestdealsonhomes6052@yahoo.com, and while there hasn't been anything in the way of actual advertising posted yet, it's something to keep an eye on.
