The "I Found A Spammer" Thread

IP resolves to Omaha, for what it's worth. It's slightly possible that that person is legit and that's his work email, but I seriously doubt it. We'll keep an eye peeled.

I think our pet Chinese spammers hawking their Christian Louboutin shoes had a bad day yesterday:

20,000 Counterfeit Christian Louboutin Shoes Confiscated
If you find a pair of those trendy red-bottom heels for a deal that sounds too good to be true, it probably is.U.S. Customs and Border Protection confiscated 20,457 pairs of counterfeit Christian Louboutin shoes at the Los Angeles/Long Beach seaport.

“They label the shipments as generic shoes when, in fact, they’re bringing over contraband,” said Jaime Ruiz, a public affairs specialist for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

According to the CBP, the knock-off shoes that were transported in five different shipments on a cargo ship in large boxes from China had a domestic value of more than $57,000, meaning it cost just less than $3 per pair to make them.

Officials said there were enough of those red soles to add up to a suggested retail value of $18 million, an unbelievable profit.

It's been almost three months since our Chinese friends last paid a visit. But here they are again.

I flagged him as a spammer, but we need a permaban on the IP.

squilliam posted as his/her first post in the Husker Football section about a cure for aids.

Moved it to the BS forum. Might want to check out the validity of this member, IDK

squilliam has the same IP as someone I flagged as a spammer already. Maybe it's time to ban the IP.

IP = 50.123.205.165

mnofdichotomy - only post can be found HERE

Turns out, while both articles are found at different websites, both can be traced back to the same "person," a bloke who goes by the name PopWillEatItself, who self-publishes these articles. His home page on Triond can be found HERE. The funniest part of his little project is his bio, attached to another of his "articles" :

I write articles online…. it’s a hobby of mine. I don’t make much, but I have a blast. For a middle aged dad who once had dreams of being a sports writer but didn’t have the talent…. it’s an ok substitute. Some people like reading my stuff… my views are in the millions over the last few years. Some people i piss off. I drop links in many of the message boards; in fact, if you’re reading this, odds are you followed one of them.

Some call me names, which amuses me. Spammer is the most popular one, which I don’t mind, being that it’s true.

I say we nuke him.

VisionaryRealist is a spammer. He's posted his blog in two different threads. I removed one thread to the junkyard and I've cleaned up the other thread.

EDIT - correction, he spammed it in five different threads. Cleaned them all up, moved the offending posts to the junkyard.

rachinesafire is another spammer. Had this URL in their link: http://www.freemeals.ca/

Flagged him as a spammer. He's using a dynamic IP, so not sure what we can do about that.

I also locked that coupon thread that these kinds of spam keep popping up in. Not sure if that was a good idea or not - these guys tend to put the post there, and it's somewhat harmless there since I don't think anyone reads it, and now that it's locked who knows where they'll put it. Maybe I should unlock it?

From walksalone's status:

All 4 guys, who have b'day's on the board, are all 43 years old...
None of them have posts. Three of them have what appear to be spammy links in their emails and registered around the same time in 2011.

http://www.huskerboa...13-miltonkrupp/

http://www.huskerboa.../9831-raulkoss/

http://www.huskerboa...arlesjamison12/

Although they don't appear to have done anything. They do appear to be from the same IP. Not exactly, but the first few octets are identical. I've flagged the above three on the basis of their links.

The fourth is this guy: http://www.huskerboa...idesteelerland/
