I thought the instant Martinez was out of the picture was during South Dakota State or Northwestern.
Well he started against Minnesota, so I guess not.
Yeah, Northwestern was after Minnesota.
Yeah, but I don't remember seeing anything saying Taylor was for sure done for the year until bowl prep, probably, when Bo told TA that this was his team now, so prepare as such.

I guess it's a fait accompli that Taylor Martinez is now the Blue Lion in the Callahan/Steve Pedersen/ESPN bias Voltron of Things That Hurt Nebraska Forever.

I'll never understand it, all the kid did was be one of the best QB's the school ever had.
He's an easy target. People with a casual understanding of the sport give too much credit & too much blame to the quarterback.

We went 29-14 with Martinez as a starter. In those 14 losses we scored 20 or more points eight times, including our last six losses in a row. We scored 30 or more points in four of those 14 losses. That's more than enough to win games with a competent defense, except our defense was anything but competent during Martinez' tenure. Give Taylor a good defense for four years and he has a VERY different legacy here.

I get all that, I just had a little more hope that after the first game of the season, the talks would not have included a player who doesn't play here anymore or "god our current starter might not be the answer'".

Yeah, Taylor's time here is done, and comparing him to Tommy is kinda pointless. Really different styles of game, really different circumstances on the defensive side of the ball - hell, really different circumstances on how each guy earned the starting job.

Anyone who can't get behind Tommy Armstrong, who can't love what he's doing nine games into his career here, who can't get even a little bit excited for his future and what he could do for this team... man I don't know. That's a sad, freaky kinda fandom.

Get right outta here with all of that silly common sense and reality hooey.

I still think we need to lure Drake back. D-Magic for QB!

This is the right thread for nonsense, right?

He has a lot of yardage, which will happen most anytime there's a 3+ year starter. His turnovers are his Achilles heel.

I would say his turf toe or whatever ruined his senior season was his achillies heel . He wasnt the only one giving away the rock the last 4 years.

Yay for ego.......
