Artifical manipulation of supply and demand. That is what happens with bulk/mass purchase of tickets to sporting/concert events. Ticket brokers/douchebags who buy large quantities of tickets then release them individually to inflate their worth ruin the level playing field of box office sales. The only way to prevent this is to increase ticket prices to ensure that every bit of worth is charged directly from whoever is selling the tickets. This way, ticket brokers do not have a reason to buy mass quantities of tickets because the prices have already met their premium and there is little profit to be made on a more expensive investment. This evens the playing field, opening those tickets normally bought up by brokers to be available to the public.

 
no, the only way to do it is the way Garth Brooks is doing it...specifically for his shows here in KC. Saying that you must pay for tickets in cash if you are to buy them at ticket outlets or only allowed a certain amount if you buy them online (6 max for his shows supposedly). This severely limits the ability for brokers to get as many as they can in bulk. I think he also entered a deal with Ticket Master so they would only charge a certain fee. I personally think Ticket Master screws people over too...but in this instance I think the most expensive ticket for his concert went for $32?

Even better is Brooks added on more concerts as each one sold out. I think he's up to doing 9 shows in KC now!? Enough of this "let's tour as many cities as we can, as fast as we can and charge as much as we can."

too bad I'm not a fan of Garth, because he's treating his fans right.
