Ive seen this a thousand times. The stalker picks his target and starts out with some simple LOL's, retweets, and the " I will always love you, no matter what you do" The target is then seen tweeting another fan, almost as if they are laughing and pointing at what a loser the stalker is. Stalker gets offended and comes back with " Ive always supported you i cant believe your doing this to me" After this, the Stalker becomes increasingly aggressive, befriending the local Huskerboard troll and blindly following his every word. The stalker is lost, his love has stabbed him the back and his new friend has been suspended for 30 days. Desperate for attention he waits outside Priest's house.. as Priest exits his house he yells, YO PRIEST, CAN I GUY GET A f'ing RETWEET ALREADY?

I was enlisted in the Army and did a tour in Afghanistan before I was 19. But I'm young and a social networking junky, so I can relate to the fact that he had a big decision in his life ahead of him and wanted to let him know that husker nation wanted him here, he DM'ed me first though after my first tweet or so and let me know he didn't have many Husker fans as followers. He was bummed by that after visiting and seeing all the fans. Same with Johnny Stanton. He even asked me if I was planning on coming to Nebraska to play. The last tweet I sent him was in frustration of us not ending up in his top six. Michael Rose was another guy who followed me and tweeted me fairly often during his recruitment. It's not weird, it's a younger generation of people who use this outlet as a new means of communication. But thanks for the appreciation Thor, we fight for you to have your opinion.

i am on your side army. this is not a big deal. it is creepy that huskerfowler chronicles your tweets, though. this is just two people chatting online about football and college programs. again, not a big deal.

Technically it is a violation, BUT, it's one of those things that probably happens to often that if the NCAA chose one case to come down on, it would open up a pandora's box of bullsh#t.

It's not OK. You cannot wrap yourself in the flag (I was enlisted in the Army and did a tour in Afghanistan before I was 19.) and think this is "a younger generation of people who use this outlet as a new means of communication." It is a recruiting violation and can get Nebraska in trouble.

Fan passion is one of the main factors making college sports as great as they are. Sure, fans get crazily into pro teams, too, but the fact that in many cases college sports fans are rooting for schools they actually attended pushes the personal connection they feel to the teams – and therefore, the amount they care about said teams – to yet more intense levels.

And sometimes, with that intensity comes creepiness. Specifically, that creepiness tends to arise in recruiting matters, with adults on pins and needles awaiting kids’ decisions about where they’ll go to college. We’ve talked about the creepiness of it all before – on the part of coaches as well as fans – but there’s something else to keep in mind about fans urging on kids to attend their schools: if you actually contact the player with your wishes (pretty easy to do thanks to Twitter, Facebook and the like), it’s not just a little uncomfortable, it’s also against the rules:

“As soon as you contact a recruit and try to persuade them to come to your school, you automatically become a booster because you are helping a recruit come to a specific institution,” [Oklahoma State assistant athletic director of compliance Ben] Dyson said. “Boosters aren’t allowed to recruit prospective student-athletes.”
Impossible to truly enforce (fans do this all the time) and therefore kind of pointless overall? Perhaps, but it’s a rule nonetheless. And this rule at least seems to have its heart in the right place, since it pretty much boils down to: leave the kids alone and let them make the decision themselves.
