knapp, it was a bad comparison. yes, we all know how arbitrary the ncaa can be. but you are comparing the huge criminal scandal of one school with the tiny transgressions probably every school does.

and the ncaa has stepped in. it amounted to nothing:

that is an apt comparison, but not completely because those are players on the team vs. little 'ole army allen.

if the ncaa did anything meaningful to neb. because of army allen, it would be worth it. it would be worth it for the uproar and the stain on the ncaa's embarrassing record. maybe it would be straw that broke the camel's back. besides, the ncaa is busy trying to figure out what the hell happened in miami to care about anything else.

Thank god we had to hash the hell out of that analogy before we landed on one that adequately showed how stupid the NCAA is but isn't too extreme. It was so important that we do that.

Maybe now we can get on with the concept that the NCAA is stupid, and tempting them to take action and show that stupidity is also stupid.

you were saying that we should be worried about fans tweeting to recruits because the ncaa punished a school for a child rape scandal. that was your argument. we are saying that is a ridiculous argument, which it is. to refute your argument, as poorly constructed as it was, i demonstrated how the ncaa has punished tweeters and it amounted to nothing. the ncaa would be acting arbitrary and capricious if the plucked neb. to sanction because of army allen, i would love to see that.

we are bashing your analogy because that was the example you used to support your argument, the premise of which we disagree. we eviscerated your example and refuted the premise, that is how arguments work.

I don't think Knapp's comparison was intended to compare the two on a criminal scale. Naturally, when thinking of NCAA actions, Penn St. is recent enough to quickly come to mind....
