I was layed-off in May of 2009 after working for the company 20+years. The company moved all functions to Florida. Been looking hard for a job and it been difficult with the Colorado unemployment rate at 8.2% and growing. Now my unemployment has been exhausted. Very disheartening. Very depressing. I've worked my entire freaking life now I get told I'm over qualified, under qualified, BS!!!!!!

just give me a freaking job. Five me a chance to learn something new. Jesus H Christ, doesn't 20+ years to the same company mean anything to anybody these days? That would be a big fat NO! There were over 450 of us that were affected and less than 10 are working now.

This f**king sucks people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have a job my friends, don't b!^@h, don't whine, be grateful.

Thank you for letting me get that out!!!!!!!!!

I am in the same boat since July-I had a nice 6 figure income and was on top of my game in medical sales it sucks donkey balls. Glad people voted for the man and not his plan. Feels good to say that back then didn't it? yeah, McCain sucked as well, but lesser of the two evils. Actually, I hate to admit Sarah Palin probably gets "it" more than any of those other politicians, and she isn't as dumb as th epress reports her to be. If she was, why are they Libs and presstards so threatened by her. Say what you wish about Bush, he got his nuts handed to him on the nightly news cuz unemployment was at %5.5. He loved this country and he had an umbilical cord directly to the US people. We are probably at (real unemployment) 14% and not a word is said other than "it's not Obama's fault (even though he has been in Washington for over 7 years)" and "he sure is improving his golf game and taking nice vacations". Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. BHO wishes to build wealth from the ground up- guess what? I have never worked for a poor person. Many poor in the country are there because of their own dumb a$$ choices/ bad decisions. We get free education and if you choose to piss it down your leg and stay home and play Atari (yeah I said Atari- I'm old and don't get the hype about the PS3 even though we have 2 of them). America is hurting and it will be a while till its gets better. I minored in Econ and I can tell you that when your country's debt obligations are almost at 80% (13.5 trillion vs 16 trillion) of GNP- there are going to be huge problems down the road. China was buying our grain to drive up prices cuz our dollar is falling. yeah, deflation(weak dollar) helps exports but the hell are we exporting anymore? The stock market is buoyed on zero percent government loans to banks (and many companies-Goldman Sachs, Jp Morgan are now banks) and they are buying stocks with little to no risk- We have become the Japanese in the sense we import almost everything. Labor unions have made it very difficult to make anything here or our best paying jobs are now in the government sector(another big a$$ union). Now the TSA has become a bunch of adulterers. I really don't wish to debate most of the above without you checking into the current facts outside of MSNBC or CNN. Yeah, I watch a lot of FOX and listen to Rush and occasionally Beck. beck kicks the crap kicked out of him in he media but what he has said or written the past 10 years has come to pass. Same with Rush- i can take him in small doses but there is not many people that can command a micro phone for 3 hours a day and be relevant and almost right most of the time. Don't believe me? have you ever tried to listen to Al Franken? One last thing about China- they are buying lots of resources (Africa-Cuba) (gold, diamonds, oil, grain) and we are watching it all happen. Ok- I am done ranting. Thanks. It was cathartic and sorry if I insulted your personal Jesus- Obama.

Yes. Yes she is that dumb. And your first sentence answers your question. People are so afraid of her because there are a number of people who seem to think she's a viable candidate to run this country. That is terrifying, and bears watching. Closely.

I'm sorry that both of you are out of jobs. I know it sucks in this economy. My wife was largely unemployed for more than two years, and we have not recovered from it yet. Likely won't for a long, long time. Good luck to both of you in your job search.

My wife was out of work for four months with no income. I know your pain and really hope you both get something soon.

Good luck and God Bless!

HuskerNCo, Sure sorry to hear about the job search woes. I've gone through some trying times myself. But, knock on wood, things eventually worked out. I hope they work out for you too.

If you don't mind my asking, what sort of work do you do? What type of job are you looking for? Or would be willing to take? This board covers a fairly wide group. Perhaps someone here has a lead that would be helpful to you.

my wife was laid off with the rest of her division recently. it sucks there has been nothing on the job front. College degree and 8 years of experiance and she cant even get a call back. we will be in real trouble if something doesnt pop in the next month or so.....

I was a Group Account Manager in the Subscription Fulfillment world. I had responsibility for 5 publishers for 20+ magazines plus 5 employees. What I know and the systems I used don't translate well to any other industry. There is a large Fulfillment house in Des Moines but thats out of the question. Not moving to IA. I'll just keep trying. Eventually someone will see what a great hire I would be. Thanks for asking though.

Dr. Milton Friedman, Nobel Prize winning economist said in his best selling book 'Free To Choose' that people need to be ready to move to where the jobs are. The economy here in Sioux Falls, SD is quite strong and good employees are hard to find. Our medical and financial communities are very strong. I know it can be tough out there but some times you have to take the bull by the horns and make a change.

T_O_B

Good Luck.

I totally understand what you are saying T.O Bull, however, there are other nasty things going on in my life that do not allow me to move at this time. Believe me when I say I would love to move however, finances and other things keep me tied/stuck in Colorado at this moment in time.

Things will get better. They have too.

Go Big Red!
