TraditionU.com -- anyone available for hire?

We'll come up with the right name eventually. In the mean-time, let's get a running start on the site structure & content.

Eliot, are you up for getting the CMS set-up?

As far as content gathering goes, I think we should split this up by conferences. Lets make it first come first choice - the 1st one to post in this thread the conference they're doing, it's yours.

I suggest we start gathering raw content - perhaps just create a spreadsheet, and find as much info on each tradition as possible. Links to youtube videos, photos, and media stories about each tradition.

Who's N?

*Also keep track of how much time you spend on this so I can compensate you fairly.

I got the Big Ten. I've made inroads with some fans over there already. I'll get back to you later this week with a start.

Well here is something I put together today today to give you an idea of how I would do it. Don't worry about the colors or visual aspects as those would change. Mess around with it and bounce some ideas around.

Thats a great start Eliot! I like it overall.

One element I saw when searching for traditions is the twitter integration, where it shows a list of the recent comments on twitter that reference a specific tradition. Gives it a nice "live" feel and interesting to have a sense for ppl's current opinions.

Will provide more feedback soon.

I like that alot. Very clean, easy to navigate, options for ads. I think this may be great way to handle this.

I don't get it. It just keeps saying the same thing over and over. :)

OK

I'll go sit in the corner and shut up

Also a nice feature to set us apart will be polls, allowing ppl to vote on their favorite tradition for each school, overall, and vote for new traditions proposed by fans.

Hey Eliot, do you happen to have some time in the near future to add polls to the site?

To all others -- who else would like to get involved with compiling traditions? So far Lance is taking the Big 10, but we still need help with the other conferences. Plenty of fun ones left!

And remember I'll hook you up with husker gear or cash for your time.

Got it for the sidebar, but I'm still working on putting it directly into an article.

Looking good E. What do you think about also including more of a home-page, which only has 3 main components:

1) Intro description about the site

2) Index for all conferences & teams

3) Poll for the top traditions in the country

IMO this would make it look more like a website, opposed to just another blog. I know this is better than the average blog, but it seems blogs overall have acquired an association of being abandoned like an old mall - since so many blogs aren't kept current.

Plus it would get people clicking on the other teams to read about their traditions & vote.

The other element I'd like to see is an index page for each team, with simply a list of all traditions. So this could just be another entry with traditions listed 1-10. Then a poll to vote on the best within that school, and requesting people submit suggestions for starting new traditions.

FYI - I have the SEC covered. Is anyone else interested in helping collect traditions from other conferences? Big 10 & SEC are underway.

I've been out of town for a couple weeks but should be back in the swing of things next week and can take a look at things.
