He visited with the top juco CB next year in Brian George (teammate). Both said the visit went great

Safety transferring from Miami.  I didn’t think we could add any more players this year but....

Over the last two seasons, Smith has appeared in 25 games. The six-foot-two safety only had 24 tackles during that span, but he also contributed on special teams.

The timing of Smith’s decision shows that he wants to find a new home before the season officially begins.
