Trump Voter Safe Space

Of course it's a trap.

I mean, I want you to feel safe enough to be honest, but I can't promise you won't encounter some angry pushback.

It's just that 79 million Americans voted for Trump, and he easily carried Nebraska -- a state where you may or may not live but appears to unite us.

And yet not a single person wants to go on record in the HuskerBoard P&R Forum as voting for Donald Trump.

But I know you're out there (or in here) and I suspect some of our regular. posters haven't been entirely truthful about their vote. I really want to know whether what's been happening in the month since Inauguration is what you had in mind for a second Trump presidency. Figuring this out is the single most important thing in the world.

This would be a good place for a poll of these voters.

Are the things that have happened in the first month what you voted for?

Are you happy with the first month of this presidency?

If you knew what you know now, back in November, would you have voted the same?

Might need to turn on the 'private poll' option so the Trump voters can 'feel safe' as @Guy Chamberlin noted.

IIRC, the private poll we'd been running for a year prior to the election had only one vote for Trump. The day after Trump was shot at, that number spiked to 4. When the poll was reconfigured after Biden stepped aside, the number went back to one or two. So between the anonymity of the poll and the anonymity of none of us using our real names, nobody wanted to say "yes, I'm voting for Trump and here's why."

It just doesn't seem proud and brave for a party that extolls pride and bravery.

Prove me wrong, anonymous posters.

Not expecting any revelations from this thread either. Heck, the one poster that we all know for a fact that voted for Trump lies about it and won’t admit it. He’ll support Trump daily at every turn but still won’t confess that he did indeed vote for him.

The most curious issue is, if these people are aware enough to be embarrassed or to know they did the wrong thing, then why did they cast that vote? I’m beginning to think we will never get an answer.

The math and my hunch suggests a half dozen other posters who offer reasonable posts, thoughtful discourse, and occasional distaste from Trump, but who voted for him anyway.

If you are a Republican and a Trump voter, this last month should be one of the happiest and most validating in memory. Social media is totally flexing on my liberal a$$. Just wondering if anyone in here can give us that perspective.

This is an example of a Trump voter who was tossed onto the hot stove without a second thought.

I think a lot of them know deep down Trump is a fraud but the modern GOP is a cult and the brainwashing runs deep.

I think more likely than any revelations or honest discussion here most Trump voters are going to just go real quiet and keep supporting him in silence as they notice things slowly getting worse and worse until they wake up one day and become this guy.

I expect crickets 🦗 from trump voters on this thread. They all got to know in the back of their soul that trump aka The Felon is probably the most disgusting politician on the national level that we have seen in 180 years. Kind of hard to reconcile that soul check.

Come on, man. You're living in the dawn of the Republican Utopia. Tell us why you feel so hopeful. You're even allowed to gloat: the libs got owned in the election and are backpedaling wildly.

Maybe the first month of Trump 2.0 is the aggressive take-action approach you hoped for. Maybe there's been a bit of over-reach but you believe a course correction is inevitable. But this is the place to stand up and take your place among the majority of American voters.

Wanted to shake things up?

Check.

Knew Trump was a dangerous choice? Every clue was there, they should have known.

Regretting casting that vote? Probably not yet…until it affects them personally.

Willing to admit they screwed the pooch? Never. They won’t even be able to connect the dots of the negative consequences to Trump and his administration actions no matter how hard they try. The brainwashing was in full effect to even be able to cast that vote. Might salvage some back to reality but about 40% of our population is a lost cause, never to be useful or trusted again.

I'd especially like to hear from TeacherCD, because I think the low-info, last-second Trump voters probably swung the election.
1- I don’t think that applies to Teach, and that’s kinda nasty to insinuate.

2- Do you really think it was last second undecideds who swung it? I don’t get that impression or feeling at all. I think there are just that many people in this country that aren’t too sharp and didn’t have a clue. Low info, bad info, predisposed to racism or sexism or hating immigrants or a myriad of gender choices, Christians in name only and backwards hicks. I could be wrong but that’s all I’ve garnered so far.
