Still trying to find that job that I can say/do whatever I want even if it goes in against those that provide me the platform. Not sure when the first amendment became the right to say whatever one wants at their job, but I’m fairly certain that’s not the intent. If anyone thinks this doesn’t happen at every single newspaper then they’re sadly mistaken. Any organization has an agenda that needs to align with a customer, sponsor, government, donor or share holder.
I happen to believe the Dean, who is quoted throughout, does a good job of explaining how the world works. Replace “newspaper” with widget company and Liberty with Fortune 500 company. The article author, much like yourself, attempts to turn this into something it isn’t. The use of the term corruption is flat out lazy in this editorial. Welcome to the real world where your boss/company has rules/agenda.
