Un(?)Warranted Optimism Thread

I'm more pessimistic this year than most years. I typically open the kool-aid bar and take care of dispensing the drinks, but this year... I'm having trouble getting excited for the season.

I'll say this - the guys on the field at Fan Day passed the eye test more than in years past. They look the part, but anyone who's watched the Husker Volleyball team knows that lots of teams come in to Lincoln and look great in warmup, only to get trounced by the no-fooling-around Huskers when the whistle blows. Looking good means nothing - it's about heart and skill and determination.

Is this year's team more substantial than years past? We'll only know after Miami, or maybe after Wisconsin.
Give me your address...I'll overnight some koolaid...

I've been fooled in recent seasons. Bought in when I shouldnt have. This year, and the two or three years following will be good years to be a Husker IMO. I know we are reluctant to sell out again after being let down, but if there was a season I'm telling anyone to believe, this is it. We might lose a game we shouldn't have, but we are building a foundation now. We get to watch some talented guys grow into some badass dudes.

Let me show you how this Kool Aid bit gets done right.

Miami isn't as good as they used to be... and... it's in Lincoln.... W

Huskers start 4-0.

We should have beaten Michigan State last year. We cut their heart out.

Wisky tries jet sweep, but a more experienced D sets the hard corner. No jet sweep and no win for the Badgers.

Nebraska and Ohio State meet for the Big 10 title. Both are unbeaten. And the Huskers win in a nail biter to go to the playoffs.

And if they're in the top four... Why not two more wins? GBR. National Champions.

I'm drinking the Kool-Aid a little bit. Heck, it's August. The month Kool-Aid flows freely. But I'm also feeling uncertainty. This team could be great. Maybe 11 wins. Or more. But we could also fall flat. 8 wins. And Pelini's cat gets run over. Who knows what the next five months hold? I guess that's why we play the games. And watch them.

Aw heck. Pass me the Kool-Aid.

Have you been reading my mind? Not the exact same as my prediction but fairly close. At least the ending (conference title and playoffs). I'm not as sold on Tommy being a superstar but he will be more than we need at the position.

The D will be special.

I really think we have a good shot at winning the division. I expect a loss along tbe way but that doesnt have to define our whole season like it has in the past. Season is so close, I cant wait. Even if its not meant to be this year Im excited to see how it unfolds.
