USC game. What did we learn

-I think Dylan is so worried about making a mistake that he is afraid to take shots down field sometimes.

-The check down throws to the flat are conformable to him.

-Defensive secondary is a liability. If they are having trouble covering, White really needs to bring more pressure.

-Ed Foley needs fired still.

-The B1G needs to stop relying on part time dentists and lawyers  to be officials. They are horrific.

This team is terrible. Make no mistake, the scoreboard was closer than the actual game on the field.

Dylan Raiola is going to turn into a cautionary tale of what happens when 5* talent goes to a team that is inept. Matt Rhule has obliterated his chances to go to the NFL.

I cannot to begin to describe how inept the timeout usage was at the end of the game. That in itself is enough to fire them. It's an absolute joke. Matt Rhule is not cut out to coach at this level of football. The sad part is Nebraska is going to suffer with his ineptitude for 2 more years before they inevitably fire him. He should save us the headache and resign.
Dylan can easily be viewed as a Tate Matrell as well. Regardless of coaching

I mean, I'm always going to root for Nebraska because it's that deep in my DNA. But the real problem is that right now I'm not even sure if I like this team.

Watching Raiola regress, make timid decisions, hook slide two yards away from a much needed first down takes all the air out of my Dylan balloon. I was pretty excited about Jacory Barney and the tall talented transfer receivers, but that seems like ages ago. I'm honestly a little disgusted watching a player the size of Thomos Fidone go down like a sack of potatoes on contact. I don't have a favorite running back because they won't give me the chance. When Tommie Hill starts showboating after merely making a routine stop on a second down play in the first quarter, I start to not like him. And it seems like a lot of players think the same way --- they're gunning for the YouTube clip, not the win. I think coaching is tough and I try not to to second guess every decision, but some stuff like the pre-punt time out and subsequent delay of game embarrassment is really hard to swallow.

The worst part is, when Nebraska has a final possession, with the time and motivation to get the monkey off their back, with an excuse to go for broke, it never occurs to me that they'll  pull it off. We know what closers look like. They just don't look like closers. It runs through the entire team and coaching staff. In case you didn't notice, college football now officially pities the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

There was definitely PI on that final play, but I can't believe the Husker fans who want to run with that grievance. If PI gets called, and the Huskers get another play inside the five, how much money would you put on Nebraska scoring a touchdown, scoring a 2 point conversion, and winning in overtime?

Exactly.
Couldn’t agree more. Simply put: our offense is not fun to watch, our defense doesn’t intimidate anyone and overall we’re a sloppy team in terms of execution and poise.

its a s#!tty combo we’ve been subjected to for 10 years now and I have little hope next year will be different

Where do you even start with this completely s*** football team?

I feel like it's accurate to say that the only thing that's gotten better as the season has progressed is our field goal kicking. That's it. Everything else has gotten worse as the season has worn on.

One hugely underrated problem that we have (out of a myriad of issues) in my opinion is that our linebackers are actually pretty bad.

We needed to get a stop on their last possession. We had them in 3rd & 9 and we let them convert and then just basically stroll downfield for a touchdown on that drive. Should have stopped them so that all we needed was a field goal on our last possession to take the go-ahead lead.

We're terrible. Again. For the 8th f****** season in a row. There's no end in sight to this bulls***. We can't coach a QB, we can't coach special teams, we give up 3rd & long's...just like, how much time do you have to even list it all out.

Our run/pass ratio in this game: 40/60.

Our passing stats: We threw it 38 times with a 71% completion percentage. If that's all you knew about our passing stats, you'd think "wow we must have had a lot of yards on offense!" Nope.

We threw it for an average of - are you ready for this - 5.02 yards per attempt. It's the short passes that get snuffed for basically no gain that are probably a big part of what's killing this offense.

I learned that we are in purgatory and stuck in an endless loop of incompetence.

I stopped watching in 4th quarter because it was obvious that we were not going to win. You can see it in Rhule’s and Raiola’s body language. They had doubt coming out of their pores. Rhule does not have the respect of this team, and this team lost the belief they can go to a bowl. They have accepted the fact that they are the joke of FBS.  Pathetic does not begin to describe this team and their coaches.

I also learned that the definition of holding and pass interference changed in this game.

I don’t see how we go from playing fuggin lights, hit em in the mouth, take-their-will kinda football against Colorado….to then just go flat lifeline. I don’t believe we’ve experienced that intensity all season and I’m not sure what’s holding the players back from repeating that.

Call me delusional, but of all the valid points tonight made about issues, I believe we have the talent and are a mental adjustment away from easily being a 8-9 win team again.

Extremely well said.

I literally cannot believe I saw a coach take a timeout to avoid a delay of game, trot his offense back on the field and attempt(?) the worst attempt to draw the defense offsides in history, only to TAKE THE PENALY ANYWAY.

They used a timeout to avoid a penalty they moments later voluntarily accepted. That is Nebraska Football in a nutshell. Ineptitude built on a culture of incompetence, filled with players who don't trust each other or their coaches.

Teams can bring safeties down because we have no difference makers at wide out and absolutely no one on this team can break a tackle to save their lives with the ball.  The only one who can somewhat make people miss is EJ in the backfield who has a nice lateral shifty move is so slow gaining his speed back that it pretty much negates the initial miss
