I realize there are good reasons to handle this either way, and that there might not be a "right" way to do it - we have to make the calls as we see them. As zoogies pointed out, banning the guy or keeping him on Mod Approval may incite him to just create account after account.

I decided on a ban simply because I think this kind of thing needs repercussions to the violator. It may create additional work for us, but that's why we're all paid the big bucks.

Frank and Lance are right on this. Sincere apologies, to Lance in particular, for the casual way I handled this. He should have been gone from the start, and I think that is the correct message to send, to everyone.

I think the best thing we can do is communicate. It's not easy since we're never face-to-face, but the more we discuss the things we do the better. I should have started a thread about this right away, telling my reasons for putting him on Mod Approval, and for failing to do that I apologize as well. Talk, talk, talk - that's what we have to do.

I know I'm way more paranoid than most about privacy, and it's also my own fault for linking my real name with my nick on Twitter. Thanks for tolerating my eccentricities, guys.
