This is not the guy. Rivals list the player as Daniel Lee. He was a 2004 commit to Vanderbilt.

Place-kicker transfers to NU from Vanderbilt

Nebraska’s cast of place-kickers now includes a transfer from Vanderbilt.

Daniel Lee, who apparently never attempted a field goal or extra point for the Commodores, has enrolled in second-semester classes at NU and will be on hand for spring drills.

“He’s gone coast to coast to participate in kicking camps,” said Ron Litchfield, head coach at Park Hill South High School in Riverside, Mo., where Lee played in 2002 and 2003. “He’s very accurate, very diligent.”

According to Vanderbilt officials, the 6-foot, 190-pound Lee played sparingly at the school in 2005, kicking off in the fourth quarter of the season opener at Wake Forest. He sat out as a redshirt in 2004. He wasn’t listed on this year’s roster.

As a senior at Park Hill South, he made four field goals for a team that seldom tried them, Litchfield said. Nevertheless, Lee earned all-conference and all-district honors.

“I would say that, off a 2-inch tee, I felt comfortable using him from 40-45 yards,” Litchfield said. “I wouldn’t hesitate.”

On kickoffs, Litchfield said, Park Hill South emphasized pooch and squib kicks as opposed to driving the ball into the end zone. However, Lee could boot kickoffs into the end zone when called upon.

“He wasn’t 5-6 yards deep — more like a yard deep,” Litchfield said. However, “he was very accurate.”

Lee reportedly chose Vanderbilt’s scholarship offer over those from Pittsburgh, South Florida, Montana State and Utah State.

Jordan Congdon, Nebraska’s starting place-kicker in 2005 and 2006, announced last week he was transferring to Mesa (Calif.) College to be close to his family. Congdon, a freshman All-American in 2005, this season made 5 of 7 field goals in 14 games after going 19-for-23 last season.

Congdon’s backup this season was walk-on Jake Wesch of North Bend. Nebraska next month is expected to sign Adi Kunalic of North Crowley High in Fort Worth, Texas, who would join the team in August as a scholarship player. The Huskers’ Cotton Bowl roster also included walk-on place-kickers Zach Egger of Wood River and Alex Henery of Omaha.
