Way Too Early 2015 Top 25 Poll

Well, hopefully by the time the season starts some of these polls will become more realistic. I don't care what excuses or justification the pollsters make...USC anywhere near the top 10 is ridiculous.

I would say I don't give a crap about the polls, but as we all know...if you start low in the polls, you have to go undefeated (or come up with some really big wins if you do happen to drop a game early) to be considered for playoff contention. If you are USC, or Oklahoma, or Oregon, or ANY SEC team, you can lose a game (or so) and still be considered for contention.

It's too bad the playoff committee gives the polls any weight, but unfortunately they do.

 
TCU number 1 is no good. Their defense can get torched by a good offense...that Baylor game was terrible to watch. Other teams have shut down Baylor.

 
I really don't see the point about Top 25 rankings anymore. The first year of the playoffs has really proven that point. The only rankings that truly matter are the playoff rankings. Any other rankings are just meaningless.

The same has also been inversely true in the SEC this year. SEC offenses have been terrible with awful QB play which has allowed defenses to look better than they actually are.

 
OSU is the obvious pick for pre-season #1 this year and when the real preseason rankings come out they will be. To me it's TCU at #2 and the rest is a crap shoot.

That's not accurate. TCU/Baylor is a Huge rivalry game. No less than the Huskers/Colorado or any rivalry game. Toss out records & stats because anything can happen.

 
I try not to get worked up about preseason rankings. I really do. But why on God's green earth is Georgia always ranked so highly in the preseason? I do not hold long term memory for much more than Husker Football, but when was the last time Georgia followed through on preseason expectations? It really grinds my gears.

 
Now that the scholarship restrictions are off, USC is pulling in a projected great class. I know some on here say rankings don't matter, but USC has the third ranked class this year.
