Way Too Early 2018 Depth Chart

i think you open up pandora's box here.......do you play the fastest guy or the strongest guy?..............internally and the coaches should have this info and let them decide who plays and when and where.......no need to cut wood to build a bigger fire.

I think it will end up being the "smartest" guys.  If they're going fast, who can make the fewest mental errors during the fast pace of practice?

agree, i would assume the smartest guys will play.........which gift they have/use, speed or size is the question......stronger and faster is the ticket.

Updated. Some of these guys are still toss ups. For the most part I feel the offense is set. If Tre is healthy he could shake things up - maybe Gebbia.

Defense: Stille, Honas, Davis and Reed could all start. OLB still sorting it out and will through the fall. Overall, I think we will see a lot of new faces getting PT and some shuffling until we get the right set.

I'm not saying this is what it will be since there are so many things that can happen from now until September. Just wanted to get a general snap shot of what Frost's first team may look like for 2018.

Barnett will not be in the two-deep.  Not sure if it will be Raridon or Bando.  My guess would be Raridon but I'm not sure.  They might list Wilson as #2 at both spots.  Other than that, I agree with the offense.

The front seven on defense looks good.  I would guess that Eric Lee has the upper hand on Taylor for awhile but it will be interesting to see how the DBs come along and who fits in where.

I agree with Wilson, but didn't want to list the same guy. Taylor was a guess for me as our corners aren't experienced or have proven to be good, yet.

I'd be shocked if Taylor was in the two-deep for this year.  He's never played corner before.  I think he's a great athlete, but needs time.

I expect to see Lee and L Jackson, with plenty of rotating with Bootle and W. Jackson, maybe even D. Williams.

We have a lot of bodies on the team.  I am wondering what the 4 deep chart shows in terms of heights, weights, class / year, etc for the offensive line as a group.   If Austin feels good about "depth', that is positive BUT of course, just because we have depth, doesn't necessarily imply we have a lot of talent.   It is possible, we have basically have a bunch of third and fourth stringers and not many 1s and 2s that are ready for prime time play.

Our O line coach, if he turns the line into atleast a middle or above Big Ten group. will deserve Coach of the Year honors.   That will make everyone on the offense, and team, look better I am sure.  Is there a roster or team breakdown by position or grouping that could actually show what we have on the roster ?

This is the list view.  You can sort by any of the columns.  You can also go with the photo view of the roster.

Thank you very very much.   I am not computer user enough to do a lot of the searching, etc. myself.  I appreciate your reponse / help!    Thank you to everyone on this board who does all the heavy lifting on the searching, info, etc.   I really enjoy the reading and this is my only decent Husker news source in upstate NY.  Hell, football is hardly discussed here as Cooperstown is a few miles and its all baseball really.

Thank you.  Thank you all!

Our depth is obviously worrisome, we are basically one-deep, really wish we hand landed some JUCO or grad-transfer help. On the positive side in addition to improved coaching we also have improved S&C, a scheme that is easy on O-line, and a mobile qb again.

It’s not hard to keep up to date on Husker news. Omaha.com and JournalStar.com are the websites for the 2 biggest newspapers in the state (although Omaha.com has gone to a paywall for its site) and Huskers.com is the official website of the NU athletic department.
