We didn't respect the game

It's coaching. Bo comes off as a pouter at times when he gets with the media and whining about the fans and such. The team pouts and lacks a mental toughness that other teams have. I stated in the game thread. My expectations for this season are low. I really am just going to enjoy the big plays (like Ameer today) and ride along because Bo's time is coming to an end. I still like him but he's hit his ceiling it would seem and it will only last so long.

I honestly can't imagine our AD or majority of the big boosters/board will tolerate not winning a conference championship for much longer. I mean Nebraska football used to be a big name. It still can be.

If Kstate can win their conference over the OU/Texas powers,

Missouri can make it to the SEC title game in year two and only lose to the team that played for the NT,

Mich state can win the rose bowl and conference,

Wisconsin can reel off multiple conference titles,

Baylor can win the Big12,

Duke can play for the conference title,

Vanderbilt can finish a season in the SEC ranked,

Boise State can become a feared power team for near a decade...

I mean it's the age of anything can happen in college football and here we sit...not a title since 1999....fending off lowly McNeese State and their backup Kstate transfer quarterback, unable to find a way to get our Heisman darkhorse the ball...

Cotton made two mistakes that just happen to be situations that could happen on any play. Just happened to be on big ones. If they were on no gainers no one would give a sh#t. Thats a hindsight thing. Theywere also aggressive penalties. Make a mistake at full speed they say.
"Just happened to be on big ones" cannot happen. Directly cost points and field position. He's a captain.
So because he is a captain, he isn't allowed to make mistakes? Well I guess we have no qualified captains, then.
It's not "just" the mistakes.....it's when they happen. It's a comment about leadership.

I think the worst part, is that each and every one of us expect it to happen. I never felt that way. I always thought we would win, never be embarrassed. Sure it happened, but now nothing surprises me. I no longer worry about it, as I realize I have little power to fix the problem.

I have gotten many calls to day! REALLY!!! McNeese State????

I am more sad than angry.

I have to agree, kb talks a lot but hasn't been our best receiver in two years. He is just our best known receiver and like others have said he takes a lot of plays off.

I think he is a good guy but I think the fame is more important than the game for him sometimes.

You can't teach character. I don't think.
I disagree. I think this is on the coaching staff. You see it all the time. A new coach comes in, like Harbaugh in Stanford, or Chip Kelly in Oregon and the team consistently overachieves at the beginning. They change the attitude. This team is clearly playing below it's capability, hence winning in the last minute at home against McNeese State. There are no excuses for what happened today, the team was not prepared, and that's on the staff.

Being a Nebraska fan is knowing you're going to be embarrassed but never knowing how.

At least of late.

This is true.

I miss the days as a little kid when Saturday was "Watch Nebraska murder someone" day.

Just like to point out that this snapshot of this player being tackled by three opponents at the 50 yard line resulted in a touchdown.

Not really sure where else to put this. But it underscores how much some players care.

How do you know if the play would be a TD or a big gain if the penalty usually happens before the TD or long gain occurs? It's not like the play was already a big play and he blocked someone in the back. The result of the play was still very much in doubt when the infraction occurred. The fact that they occurred on the plays they did was unfortunate.
