Weird work stuff

Monday I arrived at work to the sad news that HuskerBoard had been blocked by some new web filtering company we've apparently contracted with. That explains my relative absence the past few days.

Last night I changed my skin to this new version, then when I came to work this AM, I clicked my HB link and came right to the forums. I don't know if it's the new skin doing something or if they decided not to filter HB after all, but regardless, I'm probably not going to be spending a ton of time on the boards like I've been doing. Even if I can get on, they're clearly checking, and I don't want to get in trouble or have it taken away again.

One question, though - can simply changing the skin on this site allow me to bypass the filter, or did they have to do something on their end? It can't just be the skin, right?

Correct - it can't be just the skin. It has to be that they opened up the proxy or filter to allow HuskerBoard.

 
The weird thing is that http://www.huskerboard.com/ is still blocked. But I can get into the regular forums just fine.

Like I said, I'll still be checking in throughout the day, but I'm going to self-limit my activities to mostly browsing, and the occasional Mod stuff, just to be sure. I'll post content in the evenings.

It sucks when you have to WORK at work. I'm 100% caught up right now. I hate to say this, but I'm considering asking for more to do. I'm friggin' bored.

LOL!! Be carefule what you ask for!

My guess is that the filtering software wasn't implemented well. They are blocking specific addresses without wildcarding those locations. So, go to the mail Board URL is blocked - but since they didn't wildcard the main URL, any other HuskerBoard URL staill works.
