I don’t think we were called for a holding last night, so did the Nebraska OL never hold?  Or are you just choosing to see the Illinois “holds”?

I am genuinely curious about how refs are “always being biased against Nebraska” works?  Did the B1G put out a memo to the refs to screw us?  Is there a ref group text chain where they talk about not giving Nebraska calls? Did Jim Delany come up with this master plan and make sure Kevin Warren and Tony Petitti kept it going?

Because it’s our fanbase “go to” when we lose.  That and saying announcers are cheering for other team.  It’s tired.  Illinois was the better team.

They moved the ball at will the entire game.  The first down was inevitable and not because of penalties.

I didn't say that. I said we should be able to discuss the refereeing when it's warranted. Don't insert that hyperbole into my argument. 

Nebraska went a year without a holding call called on our opponents in Big Ten play. That's not only statistically improbable, it's almost certainly intentional.

We each have an opinion.  Mine is that they didn’t impact the outcome of the game.  I know others believe they did.

 
I learned that some fans actually drank the preseason/nonconference kool-aid.  I still marvel at how extreme we are as a fan base.  When we win, we are back...get out those receipts.  When we lose, the sky falls so hard.

I guess I also learned that there are fewer rational fans out there that understood this team would be better than last year...but far from a world beater.  

We won all 3 games we should have won...convincingly...that didn't happen last year. 

I really don't care that Vegas had us as an 8.5 favorite...anyone that didn't have scarlet and cream glasses knew this was a pickem...and we lost...in overtime against a good team. 

Vegas is smart.  They wanted your money.

I think the point is we can talk about bad calls and they do affect the game of course..but what is the logical conclusion of your argument?  Is this a conference conspiracy against Nebraska?  If you think so, say it and explain how it could be executed in secrecy for a decade, and more importantly why. 
 

I had a few problems with the refereeing last night. I thought the spot was terrible on the Illinois 4th down. I thought the offsides call was BS. I thought the defensive Pi against us on the 3rd down hitch route was bad and inconsistent with the non call in the end zone on our second drive. 
 

However, the calls I hear being debated, like the end zone INT, the personal foul after the 4th down play, the non call on the OT hit on Banks…all were correct in my opinion.  Illinois had an argument on a few non calls as well that went our way.  
 

So there…we talked about it. 

 
So many things go into being a consistently good team that gets better throughout season, and we’re not there yet. It’s was a very good test that we failed,   but I’d rather know these things now than in October/November.  At least we can try to fix them. 
 

And I think it’s time to get away from home. Maybe it will help the focus issue.
