What did we learn? (The Illinois edition, sponsored by Stickum brand adhesive)

  • This team has grit...it just has to get out of its own way to utilize it.
  • There are some questionable calls--the B1G really needs to get their s*** together with officiating.
  • We need to devote more time to special teams work--they're killing us.
  • We need to devote more time to ball protection in practice--it's killing us.
  • These kids need not only a win, but one they can feel good about where they excel at all three phases. I don't know if we'll see that this season. :(

This team for once got punched in the mouth and answered back with their own punch!

Martinez from last year finally showed up!

Wandale is ridiculous and we're lucky to have him!

Washington has so much heart to keep grinding through that injury and fighting!

The defense for once wasn't gassed at the end of the game and that's all from the offense helping them out and keeping them off the field!

We've gotta clean up the penalties and turnovers somehow, we would've destroyed them if we didn't do that to ourselves!

Illinois...............man can they hit!

A win is a win and it doesn’t matter how ugly it was, especially on the road. Team bought in and didn’t quit.

It feels very fortunate that we have played 3 absolutely terrible QBs. I’m nervous about that going forward.

We were the better team and it showed in the end. Illinois hung with us in the trenches for a little while but we won in a big way when it mattered.

Wandale is incredible.

Get to a bowl game is still the goal and very attainable.

Severe and Benning were banging the drum for Wandale and Mazour to get carries on the inside zone play. Those types of guys can find creases in the defense and don’t require big holes.

Our defense is legit. other than the first Illinois drives in both halves Illinois could only score on turnovers.

The offense is starting to click.

Turnovers are a HUGE issue and need to be a massive focus this week.

This team does not give up.

I’m looking forward to not reading the next 2 game threads, as I cheer for the team in person instead of seeing so called fans give up before half time.
