What did we learn UCLA edition

We should change the documentary title to beating the spread. That way the boys will know we need more than 3 pts to win the game when we're in the red zone.

It’s hard to see a scenario moving forward where Rhule turns this around with the current staff. He has some big decisions ahead and he needs to clean house.

Raiola has regressed every week since the Colorado game. Seems like teams have figured him or Satterfield out. Sits in the pocket far too long.

Cheer and support our Volleyball team who shows up every season, every week, and every game!

No accountability.  Foley should have been gone weeks ago. Missed PAT which could have really played more into the outcome. Look at the punt return plays. Our guys block no one coming down field.  High school teams have better punt returns, it’s like we just don’t care. No accountability.  Raiola has got to earn his job. No fire, too ho hum.

Don't have talent.  Don't have speed on either side of the ball.  Still don't have an O-line.  Still don't have enough burners at WR.  This has been a talent issue and continues to be a talent issue.  Add in poor coaching and were never going to improve as a program.  Even though we are still considered a legacy program, even though that is fraudulent to keep holding on to as a program, its all we have left.  Find the right guy or start putting more money into other programs because this one is wasting money.  Put more money into basketball and volleyball.  This is a poor investment.
I think we are short on talent as well, but our program football IQ is sorry.  From the players to the coaches.  We do so many boneheaded things.  Like we are not prepared for the big stage.

I don’t agree with anyone saying we don’t have talent. Nebraska hasn’t been good in ages, so there is no reason for the recruiting sites to be biased in our favor, yet we almost always have a top 30 recruiting class. Our average ranking the past 10 years is 28. There’s no reason we shouldn’t have some top 25 seasons sprinkled in there.

This is a lack of player development and in game coaching problem. Possibly scheme too. Some combination of the 3. I know recruiting rankings aren’t perfect but I think we have one of the worst results to ranking ratio of anyone if not the worst.

I continue to disagree with the talent aspect. How can the recruiting rankings be so wrong on mostly NU (versus seemingly everyone else) for the better part of 25 years now? Outside of Frost's last full recruiting class, NU has been top 25, with a fair amount of top20 classes in there.

Without letting Rhule and company off the hook, I do wonder if there's still a bad mental element from previous staff within this program that NU is still trying to exercise.

The reality is that Donovan needed fired after last season.  We are stuck with Donovan as long as his nephews are involved with the program. Can we pay him to be on staff in a position that does not require any skill or competence?

Players should get better throughout the season, why do our kids actually get worse?  Our coaches are not teaching these kids and they definitely are not holding themselves or the kids accountable.  These do not seem to be anything near quality coaches.

I don’t see the Huskers winning another game this season.  We always have trouble when playing Iowa and Wisconsin.  Maybe next year?

We need a better OC and line coach.

I believe the major problem is that our offensive line is just not good enough.  It’s been that way since the late 1990’s.

I do not like the defense with its pretend 3-man front.  There is not enough pressure on the QB even with the LBs on the line- not a 3-man defense then.  Our DB’s play too loose.

I don’t think we are getting the full value of our expensive coaching staff.  We should be seeing better fundamentals on the field.

That's on Rhule for letting it continue and faster.  If he's not going to do what needs to be done then he's not a good coach and he should not being paid to coach.

Again, I would stop donating any dime to this program until they hire the right guy, and this team wins 7 games in a season.  No more.  Boosters and donors should just stop until the program proves it can win again.  We have all this supposed NIL money, and still don't see 5 star players flocking to Lincoln.  Either we can't sell this program to young recruits or our coaching staff is not selling the program and themselves enough.  There is no belief in this program to make a turnaround.  Even the fanbase is losing hope on this after just a year and half of this regime.  With this NIL funding we supposedly have, you would think that we could at least buy some players and get them on campus.  So where is the disconnect coming from?  Either our NIL is misleading or we don't know how to use it.  We hire such bafoons to lead this program we can't even buy players to come here.  What is it????

1. Don't let the score fool you. It would have been a beat down if not for the unsportsmanlike penalties against UCLA.

2. The offense is a disaster on so many levels (play calling, quarter back play, blocking fundamentals, etc.).

3. Our defense bends too much. It cannot reliably get off of the field. That's understandable against superior competition, but it also occurs routinely against comparable talent and against some teams with less.

4. If Foley is not fired or redistributed after this season, then Rhule will never replace any of his staff except for scandal.

5. Haarberg throws a prettier ball than Raiola.

6. The OSU game was a fluke.

I learned that even if we move to FCS, we will somehow play down to the competition and find a way to make games close and lose. At this point, the identity of this team is finding a way to lose and making not so good teams look like world beaters. We lose to a 2-5 team at home when we have a chance to become bowl eligible. If that does not define the last decade, I don’t know what does.
