That's where I am on the fence. Dude is 6'4 260. Probably takes a few step to get rolling. I'd think more predictable red zone, outs, drags across the field that have plagued NU for years etc... Just seemed to create an advantage for smaller DB's to come down hill and hit him before he turned up field and got moving. Announcers did mention him not setting the age on a block in the 1st IIRC. Dude has all the physical tools. Just hope we can get him going. Nelso was much bigger than I expected. The thing with Fidone is that at least two of his three possessions started behind the LOS. Is that the right use of a TE?
You know he fumbled, right? I think it’s a nice early season tone setter. Applicable to the whole team.We finally have a legitimate quarterback that can throw the ball, and make throws on the run. We've also significantly upgraded the wide receiver position. We have legitimate 6'4" and 6'5" guys who can go up and make the catches that in years' past would have been incompletions, if not interceptions. The only thing I didn't like is how Rhule got away from Dowdell...but maybe he just wanted the other backs to get some time. But they weren't nearly as explosive as Dowdell.
Dowdell fumbled. We have four "OR" backs on the roster right now. There isn't any wiggle room for loose hands.

Per the box score he did come in after the fumble. Maybe they confused guys? Did show his 1 TD and Ervin's 2. I mean he looked as good as the others that didn’t fumble. But I get your point.Yes, he fumbled...once. He is still, by far, the most explosive of the backs. There is absolutely no denying that.
And hopefully he will get more opportunities down the road but it was definitely the right move to sit him the rest of the game. The coaches keeping their word will be impactful for the team.Yes, he fumbled...once. He is still, by far, the most explosive of the backs. There is absolutely no denying that.

Still, I think that’s the message Rhule wants to send early to the entire team.
Who had the 45ish yard run?No, go back and re-watch the game. Those big, explosive runs were all by Dowdell. There was a huge difference when Johnson took over.
Normally I spend the 2-4 hours postgame listening to BRO and people whining about everything. What I learned is that if we sucked in the game there is 10 pages by now. Since we looked good? We are at 2.
I also drink way less beer when we look better.
