What is the future of the Republican Party?

NBC just called the Arizona Governor's race for Hobbs. Meaning the Trumpist candidates ran in swing states all lost. Except Lombardo in Nevada and I'm not even sure calling him a Trumpist is accurate. He's more of your run-of-the-mill ring kisser.

I think we're entering the phase where everyone except the hardcores pretend they never supported him.

First however, we have at least 4-6 months of fighting about how unfair and "cheaty" and mean the elections were.

apparently all elections ever held without required voter id cards has been illegal according to the far right wing nut jobs.
That’s quite the stretch.  So far you are the only one on this board who makes that claim.

But I will play along with your anti-VoterID ideology.

What’s the harm in getting a voter ID?  They are free.

Why do we need to show ID to fly but not vote?

Why do seniors need to show ID at the Dr. Office in order to use their Medicare insurance cards?

Being against ballot collection (aka "ballot harvesting") is one of the silliest things to be against IMO. It's just people gathering up completed ballots and delivering them. But of course there's a segment that believes something illegal might happen due to those ballots being gathered and delivered. Yes, let's get all hot and bothered when John Doe brings the ballots from the old folks home to the drop off or election site.

As far as obtaining ID, here are some statistics regarding voter ID in this country:  https://www.aclu.org/fact-sheet/oppose-voter-id-legislation-fact-sheet
Read this “fact” sheet…

Voter ID laws deprive many voters of their right to vote, reduce participation, and stand in direct opposition to our country’s trend of including more Americans in the democratic process.

This is just simply not true which is shown by the “increase” in vote totals after states have implemented Voter ID

How many of these 11% are under the age of 18 and don’t have a drivers license.  Roughly 20% are under 18 in general.

  • Millions of Americans Lack ID. 11% of U.S. citizens – or more than 21 million Americans – do not have government-issued photo identification.
  •
  •
  • The travel required is often a major burden on people with disabilities, the elderly, or those in rural areas without access to a car or public transportation. In Texas, some people in rural areas must travel approximately 170 miles to reach the nearest ID office.3

These same people often travel the same distance to see certain medical specialists a couple of times per year.   To do so once in their lifetime doesn’t seem like an undoable venture.

  • Voter ID laws reduce turnout among minority voters. Several studies, including a 2014 GAO study, have found that photo ID laws have a particularly depressive effect on turnout among racial minorities and other vulnerable groups, worsening the participation gap between voters of color and whites.8

  • Recent voter turnout shows this to not be true.

Should we get all hot and bothered when said “collector” pushes vulnerable people to vote a certain way.   I’m sure you are well aware that not all these Ballots are completely filled out prior to collection.

No way it’s possible that someone would kinda sorta gently persuasively tell a person who probably wasn’t  going to vote to get their ballot and “help” them get it filled out with the right ticket in mind.

These things aren’t gonna change, which is why I’ve said R’s need to start doing a better job of reaching out to the low frequency voters and start collecting “harvesting” their votes and stop just waiting for Election Day voters to vote.

That would be illegal as voter intimidation, which is already covered by the law. And you claiming that the ballots aren't filled out doesn't make it true.

This is a just a bunch of fear mongering - as I said there would be. The actual practice of ballot collection is not a big deal as the cases of actual malice are exceedingly rare - much like the voter fraud claims we've heard so much about the last 6 years.

Will the ACLU be protesting the Illinois DHS SNAP and health benefits program as being to harsh for the poor and minority groups??

What happens next?

The application process begins the day your DHS office receives your signed application. You will be asked to come to the office for an interview or participate by phone if you are unable to come to the office.

You will be asked for various types of documents such as:

  • proof of your identity
  • proof of your residence
  • proof of Social Security numbers for all people on your application
  • other types of documents depending on your circumstances.

The DHS caseworker will tell you what you need.

It’s exceedingly rare because it’s almost impossible to catch.  How do you catch someone who goes around to a neighborhood or neighborhoods and tells people to request a mail ballot, hold onto it when it comes and said person will come back around in a few weeks to help them fill it out and get it returned?

So…..if it’s so hard to catch, how do you know it’s done so much?
