Then stop punishing people financially when it happens like they commited a crime. Insurance companies shouldnt be allowed to deny claims. Premiums, deductibles and out of pocket maximums should be based off someones income and it shouldnt be tied to employment. There I just made a system similar to Germany that isnt free, but still protects people when they get sick.

Far left is a relative term.  There is a faction of the Democratic party that is far left from the historical Democrat platform and the DNC.

I think that needs to be clarified when discussing it because of how stupid Americans are when it comes to the term. We have a s#!t ton of people who think Biden is going to turn us into a Socialist country, which is laughably stupid.

I’d also argue that it still isn’t accurate unless you are speaking only of modern times. We’ve been a lot further left in policy before.

Well, those people are just Republican party hacks that will claim any Democrat is going to do that.

I think it's appropriate to use this term in relative to politics in the US.  I really don't care what the rest of the world does or believes.  Bernie, AOC...etc. are far left compared to traditional Democrats.

I'm fairly middle of the road on lots of issues and can see both sides to issues.  But, when I hear them talk about issues, I almost always come away thinking...."wow.....no way".  And, I feel the same way about the far right faction of the Republicans.

What you are describing here is not insurance at all. Insurance coverage and premiums are based on risk.

To get to the model of healthcare that you are envisioning, we would have to ditch the current insurance model altogether, which would not be a bad thing, it would just be radically different than what we are used to.

 
If you were to do a patriotic montage of America, showing school children, interstate highways, scientific innovations, national parks, the Hoover Dam, families picnicking on a weekend, and anything with a semblance of ethnic diversity, you'd have to give some credit to what is now being called "far left" thinking.

While insurance is designed to reduce risk, not all insurance is risk-based coverage and premiums like you're suggesting. FDIC banking insurance for example.

I mean call it whatever you want. In Germany, people pay premiums for non-profit private health insurance. It is not tied to employment, which makes it universal to purchase. There are limits on how much an individual person pays for healthcare services. I believe the most a person pays for pharmaceutical drugs is $200 a year. These insurance companies give incentives to people to remain healthy and utilize preventative care appointments. Nobody is financially ruined. Everyone has healthcare. Thats the way it should be.

Yeah, I agree with your premise and was not trying to argue. This sounds like a great hybrid model that we should aspire to.
