What is the future of the Republican Party?

Mostly agree

By actually having good sane policy :dunno
I think you and most other Americans overestimate the ability of a president given our current political setup.  It's why midterms generally go the way they do.  Every POTUS gets (and accepts) too much praise when things go well and also takes too much blame for things not going well.  What really matters is congress, and specifically the Senate.  But, with the filibuster and no term limits in place, no meaningful legislation from either party is likely to get passed.  And who knows, maybe that's a good thing.  So as long as we don't get another Trump, I don't get overly concerned who the POTUS is--as their abilities are somewhat limited.  Just as long as they are a decent person, represent the country well and don't alienate us from the rest of the world--i.e. not Trump.

Pretty sure there is about 99% concensus on this site that Marge is a clown and cannot remember anyone who thinks she be a Congressional Representative.

But the problem is that MTG shares many of the same clownish traits as former President Donald Trump, who enthusiastically endorses her as a True Believer. The same Donald Trump who remains the leading GOP 2024 candidates by far.

Again, there's a lot of consensus on this site, with Republicans, former Republicans and Independents advocating for a GOP return to sanity, but for some reason this isn't reflected in the people being elected, even in Nebraska.

I voted my primary ballot today. Went with the Republican ballot as in CO you can’t vote both. Strictly voted against the crazy, so if any Repubs actually have a shot in the general at least it hopefully won’t be the worst ones. Honestly I still have conservative tendencies but even the milder candidates were some degree of bats#!t. Probably will be forced to vote for mostly dems in the general. Why can’t the Rs get their s#!t together and step off the crazy bus?
I agree and would also like the Ds get their s#!t together and realize that people getting motivated to get out and vote "not Trump" will only last so long.  Both parties need candidates that can win over moderates from the other party.  I'm getting tired of trying to decide which A-hole I dislike the least.

If your commentary on this article is in relation to the Walker discussion, then the answer is no.

In regards to the article itself and Adam’s comments on an article he most likely didn’t read…

1) I don’t like MTG and hope she gets primaried.   I would also hope she loses to a Dem if not to teach others not to be such a terrible politician.  Unfortunately need to say that here because of those who think any contextual thinking on her comments will come off as a complete defense of her as a person to some here

When I read this, you sound like a guy who would support Liz Cheney's attempt to restore civility and conservative values. But instead you mocked her mercilessly.

At this point we're not looking at loose cannon Republicans who can be corralled into passing sensible conservative legislation, we're looking at ideological nutcases willing to overthrow democracy. And given how blurry that line is at the moment, I guess it doesn't matter.

This would be the perfect place for you to describe the tyranny being enforced and the freedoms being sacrificed.

Tyranny is easy. Things like:

  • Bodily autonomy
  • Non-Republicans being able to vote
  • Textbooks
  • Noted communist Mickey Mouse
  • Lack of government protection for crappy Republican opinions online
  • Adam and Steve

As you well know, all stuff they're scrambling to address right now!

Mocked her mercilessly?!?   :laughpound  If my commentary on her is considered mocking mercilessly, politicians have some pretty thin skin now a days.

So you don't know what DeSantis will do. He's just from the right party, so magically all things will be better.
Generally the platforms are relatively the same within party candidates and with minor tweaks to plans and what each candidate prioritizes first.  You seriously can’t not know this.  I assume your just being obtuse for the sake of it.

But how he governs Florida gives one a pretty good idea of how he approach a Presidency.  And that would be immensely better than Tour Dr Joe (or whoever actually pulls his strings in the background).

Don't make me look it up.

In addition to some name calling, you agreed with the GOP censuring her and replacing her with a Trump loyalist. Honestly doesn't sound like the same guy you're presenting as today,

Also, it's not Liz's skin, my skin, or your skin. Nobody's feelings are hurt. It's simply framing your attitude on the subject.
