What is the future of the Republican Party?

I don’t nominate any candidate in GA, but I do agree that there should be a better candidate than Walker.

But isn't it weird how often this scenario is being repeated in Republican races across the country?  Bedrock conservatives getting outflanked by genuinely dimwitted rightwing flamethrowers, using loyalty to Trump(ism) as the litmus test? Forcing the already conservative to lurch even farther right --- beyond actual policy and into symbolic grandstanding?

I think it was Matt Gaetz who warned us he wasn't the outlier. The Gaetz's, MTGs, Boberts, and Cawthorns were the future of the party , he said, and they were just going to keep coming.

Unless Republicans stood up and stopped them. Instead of rationalizing them.

Again, feel free to outline the actual GOP policy initiatives and how they will help the American people.

Wyoming poling is showing that they like the kooks.   And Zona is even kookier.
The sane republicans know they need the crazy voters to win elections.  That’s why they’ve always appeased them but minimized there worth to the party.  We see it here on HuskerBoard all the time.

But now the outrage machines have mobilized the crazy voters to run for office, and wouldn’t you know? Crazy folks like other crazy folks.

So now, sane republicans are stuck trying to appease crazy politicians but minimize what they mean to the party.  The GOP train is off the tracks!

This thread has the receipts claiming the flame throwing, wackadoodle, GQP wing isn't the future of the Republican Party.  Yet here we are.

More and More I think the GOP needs to go the way of the Soviet Union - the ash heap of history. (Sorry Ronald Reagan - your party isn't what it use to be)   It needs to be burnt down and reconstructed from scratch.

Unfortunately they're going to dominate elections.

The United States is going to slide and deteriorate, until Democracy is sufficiently eroded in many states. Situations like Wisconsin will be extremely familiar, and the Urban-Rural divide will continue to worsen.

Effective Tax Rate:

0.1%: Warren Buffett worth $111 billion

1.1%: Jeff Bezos worth $131 billion

1.8% Mike Bloomberg worth $82 billion

2.1%: Elon Musk worth $210 billion

13.5%: Registered Nurse

Certainly is not equitable, and needs to be addressed. Wondering why is this in this thread? Rs and Ds have both contributed.

Maybe the Primary should be Mitt, Sasse, Trump, and DeSantis.  That should give every R a candidate of their liking to vote for and then we can see what shakes out.
Primaries on the Republican side are essentially a race-to-the-bottom since only highly motivated voters turn out.

The winner will be whichever candidate is willing to go further than the other. Who has less shame between Trump and DeSantis?

Personally, I want Abbot to join. It would be entertaining to see the three of them out crazy the other. Sure, it's bad for the country but who cares. Might as well make the accelerated decline of America entertaining.

Let them.

If they want to create a MAGAverse, so be it. We can build a wall to keep the feral Trumpers out. We can set up a repayment plan so Red states can pay back the federal dollars they've been leeching. We can fine them for every gun that is found illegally across the border. They can reimburse blue states for FEMA relief if they want to deny climate change. They can be ravaged by the next pandemic of they don't want lockdowns or vaccines. The voters in those states don't face real consequences (outside of being financially poor and having borderline 3rd world health outcomes) from their idiotic voting. Give them what they want.

Consider that 9 of the 10 poorest states are Red, and 20 out of the poorest 25. Blue states are subsidizing their existence. So, by all means, secede. If they don't want the tyranny of the federal government, give them what they want. I don't want blue state tax dollars to subsidize them anymore.

"If red states don't submit to government tyranny, we should tyrannize them harder!!!"

-Basically the entire ethos of the Democratic party

Madison Cawthorn seems to be having an epic week. I keep reading about this video (although it's apparently not safe to post it anywhere?) and now this.
