What "political" things have you done?

I went to a John Kerry rally of all people. And then I didn’t vote for him.

I stood next to his daughter at the rally. It was at the state fair grounds in Iowa. I got there so early it was me and a bunch of obsessive Democrat people who actually do Democrat things. They questioned me a bit then gave me special tickets. They were probably just nice because I was really young and going to a John Kerry rally. I’m guess <5% of the crowd was younger than me.

Anyhow, it was something like 32 degrees out so kind of uncomfortable and we waited 2-3 hours for a 20 min speech. After the speech, Kerry’s rich a$$ wife comes out in a giant fur coat for a photo op and looks like she’s truly suffering/freezing to death, from being outside for 3 minutes.

Combine her behavior with John Edwards (his running mate) being the most smarmy politician in history (I was not surprised in the least to hear he later cheated on his wife while she was dying. He oozed fake charm.), and the fact I was young and changed my mind easily, I decided to vote for Nader.

Did door to door canvassing for a GOP governor candidate in the 1980s. He lost

Did a couple pro-life protests around 1988

Heard a few speeches of presidential candidates- none of whom won the nomination

High school Letterman club VP. And 4H club president- do those count???
Protested some college rules and wrote letters to the editor several times.
So all pretty low key and some laim stuff. But I’ve been real good as a political complainer  :D

Oh, a political science minor to go with my history major- both of which didn’t do me any good in real life- except to give the discernment to know a fraud (Trump aka The Felon) when I see one.

I have not, not really.  I ran for like a student government position in school once, that was it.

I have never been to a rally or a protest, because I am not crazy.

I have never donated to a campaign (see above)

I have signed some petitions.  I think the last one was to raise min wage (lame).  I did sign one for gambling and I think I signed on for legalizing pot.

I have never put up a yard sign, because that is just odd.

What about you guys?

15 years of posting. Upwards of 20,000 posts in a political section of a message board ostensibly dedicated to football, out of 31,000 total posts.  (This is from knapper, I also am a big poster in politics)

I've certainly picked up on your disinterest, casual mocking, and ill-informed takes over the years.

I served in student government a long time ago. I never put campaign signs out. I don't donate to candidates. I've never attended a town hall or rally. I've voted in every election since I was 18.

I only get into political discussions here, and often regret that...lol

I like to wait until about 8pm on Christmas Eve...that is when I like to bring up "issues" that people clearly know they are are wrong on...just to f#&% with them.

"Hey, Uncle Ted, you REALLY don't think that Ted Bundy should have been executed even though he raped and killed, probably 50 girls"

And of course those idiots replies are the best!

Then they go "What if they were wrong"

And you just go "Yeah, he admitted to them...and like he actually admitted to like 60 MORE murders"

Classic.

there used to be a box to check on the tax returns to donate $1 to political campaigns.  i checked it once.  not sure who got that $1 or how it might have been divided up.  otherwise never donated, campaigned, put up yard signs, nothing.  i vote and that's all i have ever done.    and this board is the only place i talk about politics.   and that started when looney toons trump showed up.

Where do you get the yard signs?

And now the 1 dollar box is for the wildlife, which clearly no one gives a f#&% about.

i have no idea where those yard signs come from. My theory is that people put them in yards of people they don't like.
i did put out yard signs for local races years ago.  But now, I pretty much voice my opinion wt my vote and to my very wise and intelligent co-posters on HB    Kind of a sport played when there isn't much to say on the football side of the ledger.
