As someone who has left the "religion" and the stopped believing in the magic side of the Bible, I still find a lot of value in the teachings of Jesus: caring for others, humility, etc. There are also similar values found in pretty much all other religions.
I long for a world where people actually practice their religions in an "earthly" way and stop living their lives like they are trying to get themselves and loved ones to some afterlife.

Do they? Kinda seems like Jesus is an afterthought to their beliefs now. It's all just conservatism under a thin veneer of "Christianity."

American Jesus has the power to ignore the teachings of historical Jesus if it serves the worshiper's political purposes.
