Well- looks like we could have brought in first round draft pick Joe Burrow in as a transfer and vetoed that. So our coaching staff isnt batting very well on that front.

So history tells us that our coaching staff made the wrong decision in not bringing in Joe Burrow- but somehow you are saying they should be trusted when it comes to bringing in transfer QBs
Why exactly? Please explain. Could they have had a bigger whiff? THey passed on a Heisman- first round draft choice- with local ties.

So did a lot of other teams. OSU missed on him and he was on their team and they saw him every day in practice.

up to that point in burrows' college career pointed to the senior season he had? he wasnt very special his junior year and he also had some very good wrs to throw to at lsu.

OSU had world class QBs we would have taken in a minute- that isnt an apples to apples comparision.
The deal is Burrow WANTED to come here and our guys- said a resounding no. BUT we are supposed to put all our faith in their decision making- even though when they had this one teed up perfectly - they BLEW IT

He won the Heisman trophy- they won a national title. First round NFL pick.
Did you watch him play? The secondary and third reads he made? The time he created in the pocket- the kid was amazing

I wish he would have come here and I wish our coaches would have recruited him right out of HS even. But, you're acting like he was a proven commodity that everyone wanted. He wasn't.

FYI- he couldnt beat out Dwayne Haskins and Justin Fields- 2 REALLY good NFL FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK- QBs so he asked Nebraska if he could play here. We said NO emphatically.
Then he went to this place called LSU where he won a National Title, Won the Heisman and became a first round draft choice
SO even though our guys made this HUGE mistake we are supposed to blindly trust that we shouldnt have went into the transfer portal and picked up another guy. You know because the staff knows SMothers is so good.

And all of that wouldn't have ever happened if he came to Nebraska. So much of his success happened because he landed in a place that was full of talented guys. Your reasons to complain are a stretch man.

Did you watch or go to our Spring Game?
Martinez played the first series for the Red. Smothers started for the White. Tackles by the defense when Smothers was in there were by Kolarevic, Ty Robinson and Nelson. Are those guys not 1s?

What exactly would our coaching staff have to do- to prove they dont handle QBs well? Look at Martinez productivity= has gotten worse every year- Luke flammed out- no development he wasnt a QB, Smothers doesnt look great and they passed on a first round Heisman guy who was begging to come here.
What more do they need to do? I mean its almost laughable. To say you trust this staff when it comes to evaling QBs and going into the transfer portal when you look at ACTUAL history here- it is like one of those Twilight Zone alternate universe episodes.
