Who should our next HC be?

In my opinion, Nebraska can only sell itself to recruits via elite facilities + elite fanbase (NIL)

I think we need a coach who can sell himself on being a winner, and a history of sending kids to the pros... because Nebraska can't sell either of those, at this point in time (not even close)

I think that is what top recruits look for, above any other deciding factors (with exception of location, for some kids).

With all that said... Urban Meyer is the first that comes to (my) mind. Lane Kiffin seems like a name that can sell that (to a degree).

As a Raider fan, I've always wondered what Jon Gruden can do in the college ranks... I doubt most our fans would be interested in that name; but it is an intriguing name.

Shaw is into year four of a freefall at Stanford. I'm not sure he's going to survive this season. It will probably be amicable — he's still highly respected but it's one of those "fresh start" situations.

He didn't actually get to play much with Mills and he turned out to be a pretty good QB in the NFL, even with the crappy Texans. The only question would be can he get similarly talented QBs to show up to Nebraska without the fancy degree. The only QB he didn't get fresh off the top of the recruiting list was Hogan, but made him work well for four years. Maybe Shaw needs more players in his profile and not high recruits he can't ride with since (KJ Costello transferred out, Mills left early).

Shaw seemed to have some of his greatest success with a player named McCaffrey. I wonder if there are any members of that family who would want to come to Nebraska and play QB?

As a Raider fan I'm surprised you'd want Lane Kiffin anywhere near your program. 

 
I don't think Trev and company need to make a panic hire. I think they go after the coaches they see are best fits and if none are successful then I feel MJ is showing he can handle it and who knows where that may lead. What we do know is Trev has loads of connections, has experience doing this, will critically think things through and make a decision. Mickey Joseph is given the reigns to be a HC and seems to be turning the ship around. Has he earned the position, obviously not yet. Can he, obviously yes and I'm confident Trev is taking notes and weighing his options. Glad I'm not in his shoes.

Lol, Jon Gruden?  post of the day right here.  If by intriguing you mean we'd pile up any shred of credibility and respect we still have and light it on fire, then sure, he's an intriguing option alright  :facepalm:

I don’t get the fascination with Rhule. I know he did good things at Baylor and another stop but those were only one or two year stops that isn’t enough for me to say he’s the guy. Sounds like a jumper to me once things get hard for him he folds like a deck of cards

Because he rebuilt 2 programs and Nebraska is a rebuild
