Who should our next HC be?

With the line, it's more about coaching, strength, and technique than stars, and wouldn't be a problem in a Flexbone type offense.

We have been running option football most years. In fact most teams do some form of option now and I havent seen a single person say they was a completely non option offense. I think most people want a balanced offense. We have seen offenses that relied mostly on run. Inevitably that gets shut down because there will always be some teams that will force you to try and beat them in the air and it gets really ugly. Everyone is pushing back on the idea that we go even further into a rushing shell and limit the areas where we can beat defenses. Its def ok to be a run heavy offense but you cant be just that in p5 and expect to compete at the highest levels.

Solich's lived off Osborne's recruits for awhile and had Crouch to bail him out.  After he ran out of those, his offenses were pretty bad.

The longer a coach is there the better indication you should have of what they're actually capable of, on their own merits.

That's just an indication that McBride retired and Solich couldn't recruit O linemen....it's like you intentionally compare apples with rotten apples just to start an argument.

Nobody said they wanted to be. If you have a good line you can do what you want. I'd prefer having the ability to control TOP. Saying our option and pro set teams couldn't pass is a lie.

Wow.  You'd take having a generational talent who was a Heisman trophy winner.  Why don't we tell our coaches that.  Someone should really let them know.

Solich 1999 offense...34.2 ppg....392.2ypg 46 total TDs
Solich 2000 offense...41.5ppg...459.9ypg  56 total TDs 

2006 - 30.6 ppg, 414.6 ypg  57 total TDs

2007 - 33.4 ppg, 468.2 ypg  50 total TDs

Seems likely the defense and/or would be the main different in ppg when you are looking at the yards and TDs.

As for your other question, wth are yall even advocating for then because as Ive had to state over and over we have been running the ball and running the option already.

Yeah, both those stretches started on equal footing.  And with the proper players for the intended system.

Also, why was Solich trending steadily down while Callahan was trending steadily up?

And looking strictly at offensive output doesn't really tell you anything about how that effects the wins and losses.  A ball control offense grinding down opponents isn't necessary going to score more points than a quick strike offense.   But what's the impact on the team's defense when it's on the field all day?

 
Recruiting was Solich’s failure. He wasn’t as good a play caller as TO but it was not his offensive scheme.  Jamal L was not even an average passer but a tremendous runner.  
 

Both Solich and Callahan had defense issues. Even Callahan had a run game in his system.
