Who should we hire

The following is probably a dream, but NU has the money to make it happen, and it is cheaper to pay now rather than continue the revolving door of coaches with piss poor results. Hire Brent Venables as HC, and Ken Niumatalolo as OC. Venables is probably the best defensive coach in the country, and Niumatalolo would give us a unique offense that fits home grown lineman, FBs and TE. All we need is an athletic QB with some throwing ability, and speed at RB. Five or six million per year should get us Venables. It would probably be tougher to get Niumatalolo. He makes two million per year now, and he would be taking a demotion.

If getting both of them is not possible, I would be happy with either of them as HC.

Bo's exit meeting with the players tells us how Bo felt about SE and the extent that even 50% of it was true, you can see why a lot of folks think SE came in to fire him, period
How Naive  was SE to even allow that to happen.  Your a lawyer and you can't put a no contact clause into the contract? Me thinks he wasn't a very good attorney either.

I wouldn't be against Dan Mullen as well.  Probably Frost, Miles, Mullen and then possibly Bielema.  Need to keep watching  more of Durkin at Maryland to provide much of a opinion.

Yes Bielema would be a tough pill to swallow as your head coach.  God Wisconsin fans would be unbearable if he were here.
Why do people want Bielema? Disregard what he did at Wisconsin he replaced Alvarez. That wasn't a rebuild. At Arkansas he's 26-27 overall and 10-22 in conference. What has he shown at Arkansas that proves he'd be a good fit here? He's already on the hot seat where he is.

David Shaw is the guy I'd like to see at NU. Tough to pull him from his alma mater but with Washington and Oregon getting better in the division it will only get tougher for Stanford. Love his offense and they have a true identity.
I like Shaw.  I think his team looks like the Old Neb - maybe not the triple option but the power running and good solid D.

Wow, I still thought Saban was making like 9.8 mill.  Winning does pay off then doesn't it!

So what is stopping us from paying at least 4.5 or 5 mil?

I imagine that would depend on a lot, particularly buyouts. I don't know how much longer we're paying BP. I also don't know how long and how much we'd have to pay MR.

Purdue is paying over $3M.

This program better sack up and actually pay somebody once Riley gets his pink slip. Pathetic to be outspent by Purdue.

Please, just stop with the trolling/purposefully obtuse/ignorant hot takes. The reason we are being outspent by Purdue is because we took a gamble on a coach who A) isn't a humongously hot commodity, B) doesn't really care all that much about 3.5 million compared to 2.5 million, and C) knew the writing on the wall of not being here long even if he did extremely well. Riley at Nebraska is an anomaly of a situation. Please don't try to compare it to a school trying to pay top dollar for a 'splash hire' up and comer who was shopping around the market.

We pay Bob Diaco more than any school in the B1G pays any assistant coaches other than Michigan, and we have the highest recruiting budget of any school in our conference (all that before ever having an equal share of TV revenue). That should be all you need to know that we're willing to spend competitive amounts of money when necessary.

Have you been to Purdue?

1) Lafayette sucks

2) Stadium sucks

3) Facilities suck

4) Football team has sucked for pretty much it's entire existence

You would have to pay 3m to get someone decent there
