I don’t see how we can possibly come out of this worse off.
Don't tempt fate, kind sir. This is Nebraska football we're talking about.

Boy it sure is a good thing every other team in CFB isn’t having the same thing happening that our 6-6 team is having :facepalm:That is a lot of roster turnover for a team that went 6-6 during the season.
Thanks, that's what I'm looking for. So, before the recent 7 over the past 48 hours, the number was 45.Quick back of the envelope math...
Right now, Huskers.com shows 150 on the roster (that includes the 7 or so that have entered the portal in the last 48 hours, does not include Coleman)
19 are listed as Seniors, so assume they are out of eligibility.
So that leaves 131.
7 (???) have entered the portal.
Down to 124.
We are signing 19 (?) freshmen tomorrow.
Back up to 143.
So need to lose 38 more to get to 105. And then for every transfer we bring in we need to lose an additional player.
It's the reality this year for a lot of teams no matter what the record is.That is a lot of roster turnover for a team that went 6-6 during the season.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, we certainly are capable of performing worse with better players :lol:Don't tempt fate, kind sir. This is Nebraska football we're talking about.
No I understand that every team has to cut their rosters but the players that are leaving probably would have started next year now it will feel like year one all over again.Boy it sure is a good thing every other team in CFB isn’t having the same thing happening that our 6-6 team is having

Well, seeing how banks and neyor didn’t do much of anything from late September to end of season, we pretty much played without them anywaysI would have preferred Rhule stick to his development plan instead of mining fools gold from the portal. He keeps referencing his past pattern of success to instill confidence, but he's deviated from that blueprint himself, and it didn't provide the short cut he expected. Let's be real, he went from talking playoffs to I've been here before in the span of 3 weeks. Pretty sure NU could be mediocre w/o the portal guys and would be set up a lot better moving forward.
To not do anything in the portal would he idiotic. Rhule wants to build the core of his team through recruiting and development. But, every year we should go out to the portal and find players they think can fill spots of need on the team. That's what everyone is going to do.I would have preferred Rhule stick to his development plan instead of mining fools gold from the portal. To deliberately ignore the portal would be foolish.
Also add in the fact that we will actually have a wr coach that played that position and you should get more productivity from them. I understand that position coaches teach other positions that they never play McGuire(qb) but to bring him in as a first year position coach didn't help at all. Never understand how McGuire was going to make the wide receivers better if he never played that position.Well, seeing how banks and neyor didn’t do much of anything from late September to end of season, we pretty much played without them anyways
To deliberately ignore the portal would be foolish. Let’s not forget we had key guys on our o line, backfield and throughout the defense from the portal. We struck gold in the first few years with toure and Palmer, have faith having an actual OC and his coaches will translate to us landing and coaching up some high impactful guys again
Oregon is largely number 1 due to the portal. Ohio state employs a portal qb. Michigan won the natty last year with a great run game and stout defense, a defense that featured a linebacker that was once a husker.I'm not suggesting NU ignore the portal, I'm suggesting you don't catch the elite programs taking their scraps.
How many staffers does one think NU has working full-time (plus overtime) monitoring the comings and goings of 100+ college fb programs looking for kids to reach out to. This offseason is going to be bananas, and sadly some talented kids are going to be left without a home even though they are absolutely talented enough to play D1 football.Boy it sure is a good thing every other team in CFB isn’t having the same thing happening that our 6-6 team is having
15-20 or roughly 2 per position group more than likely. The roster reductions will have a lot of consequences for all programs, but especially for programs that do not have the proper scouting or connection bases (HS coaches, area recruiters, etc.) to connect quickly with potential targets. How many staffers does one think NU has working full-time (plus overtime) monitoring the comings and goings of 100+ college fb programs looking for kids to reach out to.
