Will the Huskers ever score 35-42 points in a game when they really need to?

Iowa just hung 40 on Washington.....FORTY.  Hope Rhule and Co are looking at this......If Rhule had Iowa in mind for his "B1G 10 style", I'll take that offense. 12 of those from FG's.  Nailed a 51 yarder. 212+ yards on the ground. 14 total passes....

Yes, 40 points with 12 being field goals. Take those away and they are about what we have been scoring.

Is it that easy to say and do?  Just subtract points you score and ipsoFacto, it's the same thing as not scoring as much?

Scoring 40 points is a lot.  For Iowa that's like scoring 70.  So it is a lot and it helped them play from ahead and it helped them win.

In other words, I feel we can do better in this argument  ;)

Satt is easy to blame...   Satt gets beat like he stole something

Like it or not.  I think Rhule really wants to mold this team into a traditional BIG10 team like Iowa.

The days of us having a scoring explosion type of offense in the BIG10 aren't really a thing.
Iowa scored 40 today. Period. On Washington. /Discussion

Wisconsin scored 41 on Rutgers.  We scored 14 against Rutgers.

Why come they did that and we couldn't?

We put up 24 against iLLinois, but Purdue scored 49 on those guys.   :wtf

We scored 21 against Purdue, but why come iLLinois  score 50 on them?  :wtf

We scored 21 on Colorado, but thanks to a great defensive pick six we scored 28, and then nothing in the 2nd half.

Scoring 31-34 points in a game is no "scoring explosion" iMHO.

USC is on our schedule and they put up 30 against a great Penn State defense.  Does that not make you open your eyes a bit?

Penn State needed OT and had to score 33 to win a ball game on the road.  That's not fireworks, but it's more than needing just 24 or 17 to win a game.

Yes

As far as thoughts- I think you are trying to compare our offense in ways that aren't realistic.  In many of the games we won comfortably, our play calling changed considerably to shorten the game.  MR isn't interested in style points for good reason.  We haven't made a bowl game in years so his only concern is winning games and keeping our guys healthy.  So far, so good.  Yes, we are going to lose more games, and yes, our offense has a ways to go before we can regularly compete at elite levels.  That said, we could have easily scored more points in some of the games we won but we just didn't need to.
We haven't won games comfortably.  We have won games slowly.

In fact, if you look at our offense they are slow to get to the huddle after every play.  After the huddle they are slow to get to the line.  And then the QB looks over the defense while we have motion and window dressing going on.

Our offense looks like they are in Lincoln running through practice.

There isn't much urgency from play to play.  The offense could have 1 extra possession a half if we hustle a bit more to get the play ready more quickly.  Sometimes the pace of the Husker offense is as slowly as Iowa and other big ten teams that have no chance to produce without a game clock ticking down to a halt.

I love our QB.  But he needs to gather up the boys and the pace of the offense before the play.  Go with a bit more confidence and quickness (pre-snap).  I mean, game days are not practice days.  Show confidence and win the play before the play.  That is a real thing.

And none of this is Satt’s fault?   I’ll stand by my opinion Satt is “not the man”. Maybe the lack of urgency is also a direct reflection of Satt’s style.  Our lack of 2nd offense will lose games down the stretch.  Satt is still the weakest link.

There's a lot to tighten up on the offensive side of the ball, but the defense plays a role in this as well.  It feels like opponents are controlling too much of the time of possession and field position in the 2nd half and NU is playing with a pro football mentality.  Defending the chains on 3rd down is antiquated and Rhule is breeding some of the aggressiveness out of White's defense.  I get it, but if a coach like Narduzzi can lean into the variance of new age football, it's time to take the basketball press mentality to defense again and trust the process rather than hold on and cling.

The pace of play on offense is intentional.  The boys are doing what they are coached to do.

Will Satt ever allow it to happen? They look good on offense at times…get a lead and then Satt just starts coaching not to lose! It’s like he doesn’t understand showing no mercy!

You’d think with the way games have gone the last few years they’d put up all the points they can! Granted our kicking game has not at all helped matters!
