WOW THIS IS BIG

don't make too much of this. it is the first time something like this has happened at NU. it will quickly be forgotten. drastic measure for a drastic situation. ped is the one to blame, you have to wonder who gave this a-hole the keys to the stadium.
I suppose the real question should be--since when has NU been in the business of selling keys?
You're a fool! Why just come on here to start trouble? Who cares who's running the show, so long as the right decisions are being made and or pressure is being put on people to make the right decisions. This program is no different than any other program, not just Alabama! Bottom line is winning, the boosters support the same ideas as a large majority of us on this board and I'm glad they have the balls and the means to make it happen.

You folks just really don't get it, do you? I'm no Callahan fan, but I do recognize that his present circumstances are impossible. He will do the rational thing and extract as much as he can from a miserable experience.

My whole point is that Husker fans cannot continue to make coaching at NU a miserable experience. This is the second coach that you have axed since Osborne.

It will become increasingly difficult to attract decent coaches to NU in this environment.

word

Good riddance. This should he stay? or should he go? stuff is not good for anybody and it will not cease until the inevitable happens. I'm not saying we shouldn't talk about it only that something definitive needs to happen so the Program and its fans can move forward. How can five more weeks of this serve anyone's interests, except perhaps for Callahan if he indeed is shamelessly holding out for more money that he obviously hasn't earned?

I'm afraid that it is simply you that doesn't "get it."

Any tradition-rich and respectable program would have fans acting in a similar manner.

Don't single out NU fans. Are you one, by the way?

If the whole firing of FS and hiring of BC wasn't done in such a devious and shady manner...the fans wouldn't have screamed for heads. The PROBLEM is BC. The CAUSE was Steve Pedey.

Give us the right situation and coaches that care about Nebraska football and I'll accept a 4-8 season...so long as it is done right and I believe the staff and players care and are trying.

If true, this is going to be a very ugly situation very soon.

Yep. I used to think it was better to fire BC at the end of the year, but it might have to happen ASAP, just for the sake of the program.

I agree. If TO pulls the trigger sooner rather than later, very few are going to remember when it's all said and done that he said he'd wait until after the season. :)
I agree no one will remember that TO said he was waiting until the end of the season. Also, as I understand it, TO doesn't have much of a choice, this is being handled by the boosters, and Cally will "resign" and not be fired by TO.

This is weak. Stick it out, finish the season. Changes can and will happen a week or so after the Colorado game. But for now, nothing should or will change. Suck it up, take it on the chin, & quit spreading rumors or hoping for something done right now.

Got Texas this week. Root for the Huskers, man. Win or lose.

Ok, I agree we have been fairly hard on Callahan. I didn't frequent the message boards that much back in the day of Solich, so I have no idea. But I agree more with the comment that Pederson fired him than the fans. I thought after the 9-3 season most people wanted to give him another season.

Further, there have been a lot of actions by Callahan recently that has brought this on himself. A few of my favorites are the I've coached with Bill Walsh watching, ever heard of him and the way he starts all of his post games with the responsibility lies with me, then goes on to give every excuse why we lost instead of really taking the blame himself or just saying that the coaches must change this or that and how every month or so he works I coached in the Super Bowl into the conversation.

I think everyone should get used to Billy C for the rest of the year because I just don't see him going anywhere right away. <_< I know it sucks, but it's only a matter of time.

This I agree with, but unfortunately we are not dealing with a weenie here. Callahan is pissed (I think that everyone can agree to that), and he will not leave without his pound of flesh. If these God-like "boosters" have gone so far as to virtually wipe out the balance of the football season, they should just fire BC and get it over with.

Unless Osborne won't do it.

And that would be a mystery, wouldn't it? I could actually imagine Osborne giving Callahan until the end of the season to do his thing--I do believe that Osborne likes to be known as being a man of his word, and he did say that he would wait.

But Callahan is clearly antagonizing him.

At this point, I believe that Osborne could fire him for "unspecified issues." But it would cost him, and that would mean that Callahan wins.

Interesting indeed, but I actually do wish that Callahan would just go. What's done is done, and it is irreversable.

Solly is a credible source, and was the first to break the news about the Steve Pederson firing early Sunday evening before it happened.
This is EXACTLY what I have been alluding to, but most on this board seem to be fine with it.

Welcome to Alabama. Nebraska has become the Crimson Tide, and this implosion will be the talk of the nation for years to come. It's bad, it's real bad.
Wow, and I was hoping you were in a gulag in Siberia...

You're timing although, I will say is impecable. Everytime its about to hit the fan, your arrival on the "naysayer bus" is timely...

Agreed. I don't really know if it would do any good to get rid of Cal and Coz right now. I'd like them gone, but I guess it would only be for my own personal "satisfaction." I believe that is all we want...satisfaction and accountability.

FREEMASON -- Check the Notre Dame boards....they must be out of their minds as well

Exactly, if the coaches are out there giving their heart and soul, then the players will and you can't or shouldn't complain then. You can't give more than you have, but you have to at least, at the very least, make a good effort. Not stand there a look like, is this game almost over I have supper waiting. If coaches show up and give 110%, players will give 110%, and then at the end of the season if it's 4-8 then it's 4-8.

It could be that TO is just a LITTLE BIT SMARTER THAN Pud, and wants to have his ducks in a row BEFORE he cans him so that he doesn't have to run around like a chicken without a head trying to find a coach!!! Hmmmm, there's a thought.........

But Callahan is clearly antagonizing him.

Al Davis seems to keep finding coaches. Any good coach always thinks he has a plan to fix any and every problem. Remember, you can't fire the players.

It's time to worry when the coach doesn't have the answers, ala callahan

I amy not be a booster but, I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. With that being said, we have no idea who is going to be coach next year. If Vegas were taking bets on whether Callawho? will be fired next year i would bet the house and the neighbors on it. I would also bet the next coach will be under 40 years old and have some fire in his belly. :smokin
