WR Emory Blake

His height and speed really shouldn't excite anyone. He's 3" shorter, 20+ pounds lighter, and the same speed as our incoming QB.
Well... probably none of the numbers for either are accurate --- not height nor weight (likely exaggerated), and definitely the speed numbers are not accurate either.

The point being that the measurables virtually never are accurate.

He may be much faster than the QB, or not.

Only the rivals speeds are accurate and almost no one runs under a 4.5 there and few under 4.55 (even though they may be self listed as 4.4 or even 4.3).

"He is the same speed" as someone because they have the same Rivals 40 times? Heh.

No not necessarily --- both times are self reported and transmitted by Rivals (that is posted on Rivals). But a Rivals time is an official electronic time measured at the Rivals combine and posted as such as a combine speed.

The two people in question, Green and Blake, have self reported times and they probably have anywhere from an accurate number to a number that is .25 seconds slower --- or anywhere in between --- so, not knowing what is the case, nothing can be said about the relative speed of the two guys with any certainty.

If you look at early self reported numbers for some guys and then the later Rivals Combine numbers, you often see guys going from 6'4" and 240 to 6'1" and 215 (as an example).

As for 40 times, many who went to the Rivals Combine and who were tested do not release the numbers (you see this by those who have all their numbers official but the 40). Obviously it is because they do not like the 4.75 and would rather self report (a 4.5 or so, or whatever).

Generally, this is the case with nearly all the recruits. So the measurables, unless officially measured at Rivals at a combine and reported as such, are numbers which may (or may not) reflect reality.
