It is absolutely so sad to see a kid who has the ticket out of the crap he probably grew up in. He could have come to Nebraska on a full ride, changed his life and the lives of future generations in his family. But....he still got involved in this.

I don't even know the kid and this makes me sad.

He took steps in the right direction. He committed early with the intention of getting out. Heart breaking to see how close he was to a new environment. Sometimes the best of intentions aren't enough to get you through though when you are surrounded by all of that. Not sure exactly what he was going through, but watching the struggle many families go through in Lincoln and Omaha and how overwhelming it can be, I can only imagine what it is like out in parts California.

Thoughts go out to the kid and hope that those good intentions that made him decide to commit to a place far away from home rise to the top and he finds success in whatever his next step may be.

 
Sad situation. I couldn't imagine growing up like some of these kids do. Just a totally different world than what I experienced.
