So everyone knows he logged a complaint in reference to being "personally attacked" by carlfense in the politics and religion forum. While I never observed where he was personally attacked I advised everyone in the thread to calm down, there was more than one of you that I was speaking to and to attack the post not the poster. Well now he's in a heated discussion in the politics/religion forum again talking about restricting gun laws and background checks. As soon as he starts getting backed into a corner he throws out the, "discuss the post not the poster talk." So I advised him in front of god and everyone that he wasn't being personally attacked and to basically knock it off.

It appears he likes to bait people into arguments, get them fired up and then play the whole, "he's personally attacking me" crap. Not buying it.............if anything he attacked carlfense by calling him a "government employee" in a bitchy tone, as much as can be perceived through the internet anyways.

 
Yup, I think to a certain extent that forum is going to get those extreme responses. Glad I don't swallow the bait whole :D I'm a nibbler

carlfense, yossarian and others get into pissing contests consistently. I stay out of the religion threads just for that reason. Even by chance you win an argument, you're beat up badly.

I know you like to play good cop/bad cop, but I also know it's just playing a role. You're just another left-wing guy pretending to be a moderate - and you do nothing more than warn conservative posters while your buddies spew all kind of personal BS. And your friend carl is a damned PUBLIC EMPLOYEE who spends most of his time at work posting on the internet. I point that out and you threaten me. You are not much of a "moderator." I'm going before you can ban me...because I know it's coming and has been planned for some time. Adios.

How does he know carlfense is a public employee? Did he do this search on his own? Did carlfense say it at some point? If he did the searching on his own that's creepy and screw him. That would be worthy of a ban IMO, the guy's just trying to start problems at it's obvious.

 
yeah, I think you nailed this one from the start, BRI. carl has skated the line a fair few times in getting heated in that forum - and so have a lot of people - but Yossarian was a problem source. If it wasn't apparent before he certainly laid it bare in his response to knapp.

I don't want to lose board contributors because they lose their cool once in a while, but he wasn't even a board contributor. There's got to be a good political forum for him somewhere out there ;)

The neutral in-thread warnings you guys put up there were great. The more level-headed board contributors will back off and settle down, and the ones out to start a fight are going to take offense and pack up. Perfect.

For the record, I did not respond. I agree - not worth it.

Carlfense is a bit of a situation all on his own, but he doesn't usually start the trouble. He's fond of needling people. That's all well and good if they know it's schtick, but often they don't know it's schtick - and sometimes I'm pretty sure it's not schtick.

But when I give him a strongly-worded PM, he puts himself on probation for a while, all on his own. He does rise to the bait a lot - he loves a good exchange - but then, as you all know, so do I sometimes.

 
I banned him. I'll put up with a lot, but when he treats a mod the way he did Lance, that's going too far. If he contacts any of you about the ban, tell him to contact me at frank_gobell@yahoo.com. I'll be glad to fill him in.
