I thought if you get a single digit that meant you were a captain but I definitely could be wrong as well.  Also I thought so too on it being really early for players already having single digit numbers but he must have earned the respect of the coaches

I am assuming those are old posts and someone is using them to generate clicks. They don’t vote on single digits until late July or early August timeframe.

While the replying comment wasn't helpful, we don't do team captains (only game captains) and the coaches respect has nothing to do with the single digits hence the nature of the reply. You could definitely consider the single digit guys functionally captains, but it's 100% a player vote.

This would definitely be earlier than last year's vote, but Barney getting a single digit wouldn't surprise me. Seems like every coach and teammate that mentions him talk about how much he loves football and how hard he works. The picture does look like the stuff they do on recruiting visits too though, so "deuce" could just be referring to year 2 for him and he re-used an older pic.

That's an interesting thought about the defense, and one I don't think we will see. We don't have the dudes on the line to run a 3 man front this year.  We played a lot of different fronts last year also, but there is no true nose on this team right now.
