QB Coach...???

How 'bout this: Ganz leaves when Martinez graduates, Martinez joins staff as GA and coaches Armstrong/Starling (when he realizes MLB ain't gonna happen...)/Stanton. We have a tried and true Beck QB teaching the youngin's to be bigger, stronger, and faster....

Just a dream about perpetual success....

Edit: this post was meant to be a "whatever, something to fill up space", but.....It got me thinking. How awesome would NU's QB picture be if Bubba Starling decided to come back to college football, and the Huskers, in 2015 (I think he signed a 4-year deal, not sure).

(2015) Armstrong: 5th year Senior

(2015) Stanton: Junior/Senior

(2015) Starling: FRESHMAN!!!! (with a posse of "groupies" from the days with Royals to help in recruiting...)

You are missing the whole point. Ganz is getting over looked and given no credit, as Beck is the one everyone is looking at on who made Martinez into who he is. From last year to this year, Martinez is more than decent. I never stated he had too much pressure, but to take one responsibility off his shoulders, will only benefit him on working with the team and adjusting the playbook as needed.

Many have a point, that maybe it would be good for Ganz to spread his wings. I never looked at it that way, its just nice to see what one guy can do to a kid that did a complete 150% turn around from last year. Mechanics aren't 100%, but they are significantly better than last year. His demeanor itself is a complete turn around.

I have been a proponent of a QB coach for a very long time. However, the situation we have working right now is going a very good job. We have an OC who is creative and I believe has a good system. We have Graduate Assistant in Joe Ganz that is fantastic with the QBs and can relate to them in practice and the side lines. We also have a QB guru that did a fantastic job with Martinez in the off season and I'm sure would love to work with more of our QBs.

So, the trick is to how do we keep this moving forward. Ganz can only be a GA for a certain period of time then he needs to be a full time coach if he is to stay. I would like to see that but not sure who he should replace. Who pays for the QB guru in the off season?

We are moving in the right direction with our QBs and I'm sure Beck and Bo have a plan. It will be interesting to see how if pans out.

I'm pretty sure that Marrow is on staff now. Last year he was a GA but I think he is the TE coach.

he's handling the TE's but he's in his second season as a GA. I believe you can only have a staff of 10 (9 assistants). I'm not really sure how he can carry the TE label, but my guess is the limit to 10 is primarily for recruiting purposes. Marrow isn't able to be on the road recruiting.

NCAA Article 11: Conduct and Employment of Athletics Personnel:

11.7.2 Football Bowl Subdivision - There shall be a limit of one head coach, nine assistant coaches and two graduate assistant coaches who may be employed by an institution in bowl subdivision football.

11.7.2.1 Exceptions to Number Limits FBS - No individual other than coaches designated to fill the coaching categories set forth in Bylaw 11.7.2 may participate in any manner in the coaching of the intercollegiate team of a member institution during any football game, practice or other organized activity, with the following exceptions:

11.7.2.1.1 Weight or Strength Coach FBS - A weight (strength and conditioning) coach may conduct flexibility, warm-up and physical conditioning activities prior to any game and prior to or during any practice or other organized activities without being included in the limitations on number of coaches.

11.7.2.1.2 Undergraduate Coach FBS - The limits on the number of coaches in this section do not apply to undergraduate coaches.
