i sure wish people would keep political talk in the politics forum. i enjoy having one place to go to where i can easily avoid it if i want to.

I missed whatever went down. I made a comment and then got enveloped in 2+ hours of homework forgetting about the status...

i do feel partially responsible. i will defend knapp's decision because it was becoming a discussion (mostly bashing a certain sitting president) and it is hard to have a meaningful discourse in the comments to a status update. i do not think knapp needed to delete it, but i do appreciate having a place to go to avoid politics. there is a better place for it.

I concure. Although the status itself probably didn't warrant a thread, and it was a typical status, more often then not a political status is going to escalate into something thread sized.

I explained this in my status update, but I'll explain it again here. Every topic, every discussion, every thought is not appropriate for Status Updates. We have a separate forum for politics because it is an inflammatory topic. The update I deleted voiced the guy's very great displeasure with everything about Obama - his voice, his picture, whatever. He's free to talk about that in the P&R forum, but it'll just lead to a huge argument on the Status Update, and that's not OK for the main page of a football forum.

Another great example is a link to a pic of some hot a$$ you would otherwise post in Daily Skin. We have that forum for a reason - that's where we want that stuff to stay. It's not a porn site and it's not the main thing we want people to see when they come to HuskerBoard.

I know nobody likes censorship. I really don't enjoy getting a ton of flak for pulling someone's Status Update. But it's better to pull it and have a few people pissed at me than to have something inappropriate for the front page on display for the world to see. That's why they pay me the big Mod bucks. I get to make those decisions.
