Thread of Hate

my wife and i are having a coed baby shower. i was opposed, but the aunt-in-law insisted as it will be equal parts family gathering and baby shower. my wife liked the idea because otherwise it would just be her and my large extended family. she did not want to be there alone, i did not want to be there at all, now everyone has to go. i think it will also be a cookout, so i plan on drinking.
I was supposed to go to one of those a few months back. One of my kids got "sick" so I volunteered to stay back with him. Luckily I did because the shower lasted almost 5 HOURS!!!!
Well thanks for that little ray of sunshine. If I have to sit there for 5 hours, I'm gonna go nucking futz! I'm working on a yard work type excuse with the impending rain. I'll let you guys know how this goes.
Why do you even need an "excuse"? Just be like, "that sounds like it is gonna suck, I don't like the people, I'm not going" and leave it at that.

Exactly. In the long run, honestly is the best policy. No doubt about it. It's not healthy for each to continually do things you dont want to do without speaking up about it and just pushing it deeper into the pit of your stomach, because one day it will blow up on you.

So I bust my a$$ putting nearly 60 hours this week as a coworker is gone, only to get zero recognition for said effort and being told that everyone in my department has been promoted but me? God, wow.
