Up through the bottom half of the 4th quarter the stats were closer than the score reflected. Sure they had more total yardage, thanks mostly to several long pass plays and a couple nice runs. But we actually beat them in first downs.

/ edit: The stats above are for the whole game. I'm just saying the score didn't catch up to the stats until late in the fourth quarter.

So we've moved from "if we don't fumble five times we win" to "if we had those long run and pass plays that Sparty had we win".

I mean, I'm baffled at this point.

I don't know. Im more on the positive side of things, but I never really got a sense we were close to winning that game, mostly because of our offense. Even when we were driving in for the win, I was not confident we would pull it off. Sure, I had hope we would score, but not really confident in our offense to lead us to victory. I think the stats show a lot closer game because our defense played pretty well throughout the game. Yeah, they gave up a few crucial big plays. but for the most part they shut Sparty down and forced turnovers.

Unless you were the type of guy who was "ok" with the USC loss in 07 because it was only an 18 point loss and Callahan's boys scored 21 in the fourth. "They didn't quit for their coach! That shows!"

To me, that's just as ridiculous as what's happening here.

If you can't see the similarities between the two I guess there's not much point.
Both games involved players "playing hard for their coach" in the fourth quarter with the game well in hand. USC was a better team than MSU, which was why there were more points to make up.

Unless Sparty is a great team that almost beat. But they aren't that good because we should have beaten them. Whichever one it is now, the hivemind is too tough to keep up with anymore.

Im not here to call anyone a bad fan. I said in my first post some people tolerance is different from others. Im not on a horse let alone a high one. Im upset about the loss but what good does pissing and moaning about the fans do? What good does whining about us not moving the ball do?

Several things could have went differently but hey the seasons jotnover. I just find it funny that this year its "the game was close in score only" when last year "the score tells the story dont care if you think it was closer than the score says we got blown out"

We will play again soon. We will win. Seasons not over. We get another crack at em hopefully. I dont care if any of you watch or listen or attend another game this year. Just stip the better fan debate. Its stupid. If anybody should be pissed its Sparty. Those fans were just fleeing from the stadium.
