It was the lack of respect to our armed forces.

It's sad that that was overlooked.

Geez, Lawrence Phillips that's an example to really be proud of. With that said, I never made the notion that Lewis should be kicked off the team. I do however believe he should be stripped of being a captain. How can you look up to someone as a leader who displays such a lack of maturity?

I would be completely on board with Janovich as a captain, that's a kid who represents everything that is right about Nebraska football

I guess I see it as essentially team wide by just watching our play and demeanor on the field. For most players anyway. There's no passion. There's no desire. There's no excitement. From a lot of guys. That's what I see. not just today. Ive been vocal about this concern since game one.

And that is all on Riley. A coach's primary task is to motivate his players. As Vince Lombardi said, "Coaches who can outline plays on a black board are a dime a dozen. The ones who win get inside their player and motivate."

Riley is milquetoast. He's not a motivator.

These guys had 18 years prior to Bo to establish an attitude and a personality.

These guys are young adults. Act like it.

It's partly a societal thing.
In 1944, a future U.S. Senator by the name of George McGovern was the same age as Alex Lewis is now. He was given a four engine bomber, nine crew members, 4,000 lbs. of bombs, and then held responsible for all of that while thousands of enemy troops tried to kill him from the ground and in the air.

Now, in 2015, many think it is too much for a person that age to be able to handle a smart phone if someone gets cranky with them. These are different times, I guess...

Lewis' bad attitude isn't something that is spread throughout the team. But it is something that if it lingers could turn into an issue, especially since it is coming from one of the 'leaders' of the team.

Lewis' role on this team was a point of contention this week among offensive coaches anyways. One coach wanted him demoted, while others did not. Should be interesting to see what happens now.

he's an elected captain. Thats enough for us to debate this all day.

Given that this was a captain last year ..

Alot of the captain status' have to do with senority more than they have to do with anything else. And that gets us stuff like ..

Cotton was a helluva lot better captain than Lewis. Cotton was not a Pelini desciple.

If you read all these threads, the season is over. So cut your losses. Boot him from the team and move on. He is a senior. He Has no positive effect on the team going forward.

Yes, both.

I have also reared three sons to be fine young men, went to Fort Jackson with the U.S. Army, was a scout leader, and currently work with men of all ages at a homeless shelter / rescue mission, all which I believe give me some insight on the matter of turning boys into men...or not.

If I recall, I said a couple weeks ago that Alex Lewis wasn't done making poor choices when he went off on Twitter. Why did I say that? Because in my experience I have had with people making poor choices and bad behaviors in the above mentioned places, the bad choices and poor behaviors continue and even grow until something changes, usually negative consequences for such actions. Lewis blew up, nothing changed, so naturally Lewis made another poor choice...and if nothing changes, he will make another and another and another.

That's not football, that's life.

Not sure if serious, but I 100% agree. No reason he should ever wear the N again. Full on youth movement mode.
