Douschebag Hall of Fame

I had us going 11-1 with our sole loss to A&M but beating OU in the title game. I was pretty ecstatic when we went 10-2 and were leading 17-0 over OU in the title game.

Seems like just Yesterday I had so much hope...

Burhkead wide open on a wheel down east sideline in 2nd qtr. About ten yardline. Straight dropped it. 3rd qtr. Niles out at about 15 yards, about 20 or so yardline. Wide open. If he doesnt score it's first and goal. Straight up drops it. The dagger was in the 4th on 4th and long from like their 30 or so. Watson comes up with a genius route combo that leaves kinnie all by his lonesome on a post at about the 10. Lee puts it right on his hands, in stride, Peyton Manning like. Kinnie drops it. Then Eric Hagg proceeds to provide us with our only TD of the day on a missed FG return. LOL

I will continue to not rag on Terrance Nunn. Ppl who do show how much they DONT know about sports in that a lot of times it's not what you dont do, but rather what the other team/guy does. great call. Great execution. but the Texas defender was just a little better and made a play in winning time. it's why Texas was defending national champs, and Nebraska was mediocre.

Anyone else at the NW game in 2011? We were ranked I think 10th and had the legends division all but wrapped up. Dan Persa comes in and ruins it.

I was at that game and still don't know how we let them drive down the field in the fourth quarter and basically run the clock out.

That day suuuuucked.

I remember Rex having a drop, up I also remember the "diamond formation" and Aaron Green dropping a ball down the sideline for a probable score. I think Jamal Turner had a wide open drop with no one behind him too. That game was one disaster after another.

Yup! I was at that one too! After the Texas debacle of 2010 I thought to myself, "new conference, new conference foes. But why chance it self? Better go to an easy game to see your first live conference win." So We chose NW...

Worst part, my best friend is a Sooner fan and he had never been to a Nebraska game in person. He was really coming around. So he went to that game too. f'ing Dan Persa...

by that 2010 Texas game, our program had already rescinded to the point that after we went 3 and out to start, Texas flies down the field for a fg, and Helu fumbles on the first play of 2nd drive giving them the ball at the 20, and down 10-0 in 5 minutes, everyone knew it was probably already over.

That was a huge fork in the road for this program. Win that game and what coulda been. But we went down the wrong path. It hasnt recovered since. It really hasnt. That's as close as Nebraska football has ever been to really "turning a corner" the week leading up to that game. Destroying Kstate on national tv. And a wounded texas team coming in for the perfect revenge ambush. And it really hasnt even been close to that point ever since. just a total egg. Of all the blowouts and audios etc, I still say that game is by far the biggest failure of the Pelini era.

So are we nominating the 2010 Texas game to the Douschebag Hall of Fame or did I miss something?

Anyhow... I was very excited for that game even though Texas had two losses. I even remember what I did that day. I drove to Omaha and went to the zoo with some of my family. Every single person at Henry Doorly was wearing red except one family who was wearing orange. Then the game started. I was so mad I started my drive back home around midway through the 4th quarter and heard the punt return call on the radio.

I don't like thinking about that season at all. That season more than any other is one where we were so close to something amazing. We were in the hunt to go to the NC when we played A&M but stinking Missouri had to injure our quarterback. Missouri ruined our season more than the Texas loss did.
I guess I don't remember that. Define "in the hunt".
We were ranked 8th with 4 weeks left in the season. In hindsight I think we would've ended up in 4th place if he hadn't been injured. Don't worry, I don't think Nebraska would've gone to the national championship game over your team.
My comment had nothing to do with Oregon. Whatever helps you sleep at night though...

Was the only time I've ever been below to see the tunnel walk and high five the players as they went by. After that game, I've never had a desire to do that again.

Thanks for that, because a really really important factor in whether I get a good night's sleep is whether or not your comment was about Oregon.

Bye, bye insomnia!

I'm going to go ahead and nominate everyone in here who is dredging up these horrible memories. Thanks to you I think my Husker football induced PTSD is about to recur just as the new season is upon us. Thanks aholes.

And while I'm at it, I will nominate the handful of people who have been going on and on and on, for weeks and months, about how worthless Trump is. No sh#t sherlock. Most of us figured that out a long time ago. Of course he said something stupid/distasteful/uninformed/offensive again today, that's what he does. Apparently this still surprises some people. God I'll be glad when this election is over, and OMG if Trump should win.....I'm pretty sure there will be at least 3 HB'ers who will spontaneously explode. Now if everyone would just realize that we're still f'd if he loses.

Sure seemed as if it's an important factor that you had to bring it up....
