Spring Practice - Cornerbacks

SEEN: Defensive back Eric Lee intercepting Tanner Lee on a jump-ball fade pass into the right corner of the end zone.

SEEN: Redshirt freshman Dicaprio Bootle make one of the final defensive plays of the practice with a goal-line interception of O’Brien.

Is Ben McAdoo calling plays?!

To be disappointed on interceptions or excited to hear young guys step up and making plays on what seems to be better placed passes..

I'll go with excited that these young DB's are starting to make plays

Cornerback Eric Lee. I’ve liked his work at field corner behind Chris Jones. Lee is a humble guy who doesn’t say much, but he has improved as a player and new assistant Donte Williams appears to be a good fit.

Have to be excited about a defense that creates turnovers. I would like to hear about a few more NON intercepted balls.

His comments here are a prime example of what happens with a lot of very talented kids when they come in as a true freshman. Fans sometimes get upset because a certain player isn't playing or isn't playing more. Well.....he describes what happened to him last year and it makes sense.

They hadn't seen this until this spring from Eric Lee.

Mike Riley said as much on Saturday in discussing his optimism about the cornerback being a guy who can help in 2017.

The third-year sophomore is now working as the backup corner to Lamar Jackson. Coaches say he'll play. His position coach Donte' Williams thinks Lee has improved "a lot" even since Williams has been here.

An improved state of mind can do wonders.

"It's one thing at corner to improve technique-wise," Williams said. "It's another thing when you're confidence starts improving and your manneurisms start improving. And that's what I see in him."
