I only meant to point out that when the accusations went the other way, the same arguments were being used, people just switched sides as to whom they believed. Not to defend Hannity, but to show he's no better now than the other side was then. And not to defend the other side, as they were not better then, than Hannity is now.

Getting back to the original post in the thread.
The "Republican Utopia" thread is basically a collecting place of loony toon things Republicans are doing or supporting. Many of them fly in the face of the moral superiority they try to display.

Well, a good place to start would be Bob Mendendez, D Senator from NJ, currently embroiled in a corruption trial.
I know I've seen a lot of right-leaning people on TV whine that this isn't getting more play. Personally, I think the guy is getting pretty fair coverage for what is going on. The jury is currently deadlocked & deliberating. They had to expel one of the jurors who got out and immediately spoke to the press about how they felt Menendez didn't do anything wrong & most of the jurors felt that way.
Isn't that a good way to get a mistrial? Are dismissed jurors no longer supposed to sequester themselves?

First thing I thought of with that Menendez trial is that someone got to the jury. That doesn't seem right - or, it seems a little too convenient that the jury in THIS case just happens to be deadlocked when it's dealing with criminal activity by a Senator.
I'm always more than a little suspicious of that kind of convenience.

This is 1977? Somebody tell me: In 1977, were there child locks on the door? In other words, could the driver push a button that would make sure all windows and doors could not be opened? Was that present in 1977, because she says she couldn’t get out. But did child locks…? Were they in 1977 vehicles. I’m trying to remember what I had in 1977. I had a Pontiac… Well, it was a pretty big Pontiac. The car I had didn’t have them in there. But I didn’t drive every car that’s out there. You know, the button on the driver’s side where you can flip it and nobody can open a door.
The latest is — believe this. Apparently if the Republican Party of Alabama, after the election, if Roy Moore wins it, they can essentially say, “You know what? We were not represened. This guy is not a Republican.” They can void the election outcome by simply claiming that he was not a Republican or that they don’t sanction the result because he’s not a Republican or he doesn’t represent, whatever. If the party pulls out and does not allow Moore the identification, then apparently they can void the election and start the whole process over.
So you’ve got McConnell responding to Bannon. There’s no question that’s a lot of what this is. But you’ve also got the swamp. Nobody in either party wanting this guy anywhere near Washington, DC. And it doesn’t matter what the voters want. It doesn’t matter. Just on the basis of allegations, it doesn’t matter, because there isn’t a conviction, there isn’t without-a-doubt proof or any of that. It’s just that they don’t want this guy anywhere near there. And that’s what they’re gonna make happen.
This is a microcosm of what they’re trying to do to Trump. They’re essentially trying to say Trump is not fit, Trump is not worthy, Trump is not justified. There’s a coup that’s been underway to essentially disregard the duly constituted presidential election of 2016.

In the era of Trump, one things I've learned if is if you repeat a lie often enough and loud enough, people will begin to think it's not a lie. We see it on a daily basis.
I guess the same goes with associations. If you repeat heinous stuff often enough, loud enough in the same breath with "Democrats," people begin to create some pretty strong associations.

As somebody that's more "classically liberal" I really don't care much for their socialist SJW direction. Between that and Trump I've never been more disenfranchised when it comes to the two major parties.
