The Village of the "Banned"

Scotty was never previously banned, just changed from MattyIce to Scotty.  I get that he had a bunch of warnings, but that was the final straw?  Feels thin.

Yeah, it does feel extremely thin. I’m pretty sure Matty/Scotty had received a fairly lengthy vacay prior for something but saying some other B1G program/team sucks donkey d1cks, and having that be the final straw? Seems pretty weak. I wonder if new user Moos is Loos will get chastised for saying Iowa sucks in a status update. Really, what’s the diff?

Scotty has a litany of warnings attached to his name and was previously warned that his next violation would result in a permanent ban.

At some point, we need to acknowledge personal responsibility and stop trying to rationalize stupid behavior. The board rules are not complicated or challenging. The vast majority of people manage them without issue.

I’m not rationalizing stupid behavior. Most of us just aren’t aware of the first 99 straws. We just see the last straw that didn’t seem all that bad. If he was point blank warned and given the ultimatum, then he made his own bed. Still gonna miss his overly positive, if not sometimes irrational, stance on anything Huskers. He may have been the team’s biggest cheerleader on this board.

I think for the most part posters know that they are going to get banned/suspended for something they post...

What they probably don't know is if some dork is reporting their posts...I kind of think like that should be something that is shown.  We show the +1 and the stuff like that, why not show if someone reported a post?  That is a great idea actually.

I don't think the board software has that functionality as reporting a post is sort of a cross between an admin utility and poster feature. However, I would be unsupportive of that being public knowledge - it's akin to asking Crimestoppers tipsters be made public.

The vast majority of people who use the function are honest stewards helping to maintain the board.

Bummed to see Scotty go bye-bye.  Guess i didnt really think he went overboard on stuff but was pretty blunt on some things.

Here to ScottyIce

Bummed to see Scotty go as well.  I'm not totally surprised about the ban as he seemed prone to outbursts when people would yank his chain.  I certainly get where he was coming from but dang, sometimes you just gotta take a step back for a day and cool out.

Don't be obtuse.

Yeah, that is an interesting point.

I would argue that this place should not be taken as seriously as a crime but I get what you are saying.
