Maurice Washington Faces Charges

I think the vast majority of people posting about this have noble intentions,  just differences of opinion.

I think people, such as myself and probably you, would agree there are varying degrees or severity of conduct. Although it is wrong, I don't think sending the video back to her is all that heinous. Sending the video to other persons is more heinous and deserves a different and more severe punishment.

I think we would all agree distributing actual child pornography for pleasure or profit is about as heinous as it gets - and is no where in the realm of the two scenarios mentioned above. However, Mo is being charged under/for the same crime as this category when his level of conduct is no where close to that of someone distributing child porn for pleasure or profit. That is where I, and many others, see the issue with this statute/crime.

I agree. This in no way should be prosecuted as child porn.  My comments are about what his status should be as it pertains to playing football at UNL.

I'll admit, I am looking at this through the lens of having a teenage daughter, and what my reaction would be if he did this to her to hurt/shame her.

I have not been following this story that closely.  Can someone please verify this very basic timeline?

The video was originally sent out to many people in 2016?

In 2018 Washington sent the video to the female involved?

Funny how new individual see this post of 23 pages and automatically think Washington will not be on the team in 2019.  Let's forget about court and throw him in jail.  There is no way he may be innocent. :cop:

I think there’s definitely a chance possession of child pornography is pursued.

The revenge porn factor does not hinge on him posting it vs. sending it to the girl; it’s the fact that he used it to shame her.

The big difference is if you are coming out prison, you did much more than being sentenced probation for a plea bargain.
Really?  Here, a homeless guy whacked another guy in the head with a hatchet.  He plead down from Assault II to Attempted Assault II and got 30 days in jail and 3 years probation.  Yet, I've arrested people for drug possession and watched them go to prison.  I think drug possession is much less serious between these two instances.  A criminal history and/or circumstances of a case go a long ways in what people are imprisoned for.

I agree with part of what you are saying.  It's a different story if he did not send the video after holding onto it for two years.

I said nothing about throwing him in jail.  There is a huge gap between being in jail and not being a member of the football team.
